Song Parodies -> "Television is Love"

Original Song Title:

"Vision of Love"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Mariah Carey

Parody Song Title:

"Television is Love"

Parody Written by:

Porfle Popnecker

The Lyrics

Vertical hold
Remote control
Frolicking through every station
To the shows that I'm getting for free

Opening scene
Glued to the screen
Feeling the airwaves seduce me
And finding it so heavenly

My television is love
The definition of livin' to me

Those "Baywatch Nights"
"I Married Joan"
Get on at "Shining Time Station"
Carry me through "Twilight Zone"

No sign-off song
No sermonette
Even a stray infomercial
Will do if it's all I can get

My television is love
High definition I'm wishin' to see
My television is love
I'm livin' it and it's livin' me

Tuned into a dream
That is televised
The latest news is me
Story at five
See the beauty on my TV
Satellite heaven
Has beamed down to me

Sedating my mind
Ciao, sanity
And I'll be obsessively watching
Knowing that you're watching me
Friday night fights
And MTV
People on "Gilligan's Island"
Mean more than my real family

My television is love
Smiling on Jeremy Piven and me
My television is love
It's an electronic fireplace to me

Pretty funny, less random than most parodies with this topic.

Thanks! Sometimes I'm in a random mood, and other days I potato squirrels Eggs Benedict.

(Artistry) And if you find your "guests" annoying all you have to do is change the channel! I wonder if the next generation will be singing "My Smartphone Is Love".

(Artistry) I don't watch TV these days (couldn't be buggered) but this was a pretty good parody. A love song about television, it sounds like something that's been done before but there was nothing played-out about this parody. 555 channels!

Thanks for the comments! I haven't had cable or broadcast TV for years myself. I just watch DVDs.

It was a solid parody--I, like some other commenter, am not a big TV watcher. . .I, as your post just indicated, prefer DVDs, so didn't really relate, but decent parody.
