The Lyrics

This song reminded me of one of the best times I had as a kid, playing in the mud. Making sculptures, sliding in it, throwing it, etc. Of course, we didn't care that we were ruining expensive clothing in the process either, which irritated our parents so say the least. Mark Lanegan sings most of this, and Layne's part is alot of the same from TOS. ( remember that summer? )
So much mud I'm ready to shout
Comes in brown or reddish
Time for Tide the stains come out
My mom she used to say
Tears and cries for answers
You and muddy clothes, I know it's fun
And I just needed to
Get it out

Man that's a storm and we're having a ball
That mud was ours, we've done no wrong, but maybe?
Come on out
Come on out and play sometime

Long gone days, oooh
Mmmm, I never said
It'd wash away with no stains

See you all from time to time
Isn't it so strange
How far away we all are now?
Am I the only one who remembers that summer?
Ohhh, I remember
Everyday each time that game we played
The mountain that we made
The past has buried all of that away

Long gone days
Mmmm, I never said
It'd wash away with no stains

( sax solo )

So many years I'm starting to frown
The rain and dirt, mud's all around
Dirty clothes layed on the ground
The mudpies we were throwin'
Feared inside your questions
Of my childish game
It sure was fun
And I would like to do
it again, hmmm

Man that's a storm and we're having a ball
That mud was ours we did no wrong
I needed to, oh I just needed to
Get it out

( sax solo )

I wish again, like then, I could go play
And ask of God to bring a rainy day

I knew you would eventually do a Mad Season parody. Creative idea I must say for a song such as this. I never really was the play-in-the-mud kind, I was the kind that watched TaleSpin, Animaniacs, and played Sonic the Hedgehog all day.

This is spooky. Scrawny Johnny, you've just described MY childhood! I've still got all my Sonic Games from the Sega Mega Drive!!! I loved Animaniacs and Tale Spin too!!! This is wierd...
