The Lyrics

..So does the narrator of this song..But not for long....GONGGG!
No matter how hard I tried
Labels pushed me to the side,
I could not break through
'Cuz I sang out of tune.
The skill se-e-et that I needed
Auto-Tu-u-une could achieve it,
Well after all the tweaking's done
This zero partied with the ones, OH!

Do you believe the notes I sing of?
I can change my range to lose or gain
It's easy to fake it good enough, SO!
Do you believe the notes I ring up?
I will show no strain when I arrange
As clicking the high note's not that tough, NO!

What am I supposed to do?
Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Eww,
Well I can't hit that
And I'm no good at scat.
I need by-y-ytes to be-long
I have no-o-otes to hide from,
If it's a trend, then I'm a youth
And that is the bi-nary truth, OH!

Do you believe the notes I sing of?
I have vocals like a passing train
I really don't think I'm good enough, SO!
Do you believe the notes I ring up?
I'm a big charade upon the stage
I hope my back track won't call my bluff, NO!

I can nail this live performance
If my MacBook just stays on!
I don't need talent anymore
I only need an Apple store!
Don't need refinement anymore
If so I'll call for tech support!

I don't believe the notes I sing of
Like a marriage that's been pre-arranged
Now all that I'm doing's showing up, SO!
I do deceive with vocal make-up
Now with my own voice "Goodbye" I say
To find my replacement won't be tough, GO!

Bright - Am I really that old? I've been a musician all my life but was quite unaware that such advanced technology existed! It makes sense. If photoshopping and airbrushing can make Whoopi Goldberg look like Tina Turner then there must be ways to make Cher sound like Ella Fitzgerald. The parody is well-crafted, musically astute, and wickedly funny. Cheers! ;D

I support this very much. Been thinking it for over 15 years :c). Great all the way through, ,but the "Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Eww" stanza was inspired.

Aunto-tune makes singing robotic enough as it is. It won't be long until we have actual robots singing (not counting vocaloids). A great parody of a horribly overplayed song in the late 1990s and the half of the year 2000. This song along with "Maria" by Santana and that song by Monique made me feel ill.

Cher used more Autotune for 'Believe' than Kanye West did in 'Heartless', so 555.

Max, we do have a singing robot, it is called Lana Del Ray...POW! Nice satire, brightC, EVERYONE uses autotune now to the point of absurdity and it does almost nothing to a song except give me tremors.

(ABC) I personally have no problem with Autotune, as long as it's used to create a deliberate effect (like T-Pain) and not to mask a horrendous singing voice (like Jason Derulo). That said, fantastic parody of a song I like more than I used to think. 555!

I still would have liked to see this in the Cher contest because I think it would have won. I love bashing famous people especially when they need a good bashing like Cher most obviously does especially with this song.

Nice work! I really REALLY hate the OS, but this spoof had many a great line...the "if my Macbook stays open" one being my favorite. Great job.
Blaydeman - February 18, 2013 - Report this comment
(ABC) I actually like this OS, call it a guilty pleasure. I like parody that poke fun at the original artist. This was just a lot of fun. Hope Cher can take a joke.
