Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

In addition to the 3 part FACELIFT tribute, I did this one as well. All 13 tracks are mentioned in order as on the DIRT CD ( I have the correct copy-the first few releases did not have these songs in this order ). Obviously alot of the rhyming had to be changed to do this ( and you will need some imagination to try to read this over the original lyrics/song as Layne stretches/carries words into extra syllables ). PS- For the really smart AiC fans out there, this is not off of DIRT, but Unplugged, because on that version they do not say " Would " at the beginning. PSS- the asterisks are not asterisked words, but references to certain things which will be explained at the bottom. Note- Obviously an AiC tribute band would sing this since Layne is no longer with us.
( intro )

THEM BONES, first track it's a master
DAM THAT, RIVER follows after

Into the Alice in
Chains dark alternative
I loved the music they made
Try to hear it once today

( short instrumental )

RAIN WHEN I DIE, a souls dessertion
DOWN IN, A HOLE where we're goin'

Onto the song SICKMAN
ROOSTER's favorite of fans
JUNKHEAD well what can I say?
DIRT is a song, CD name
EeEeEeEeE

( solo )

Yeah,
Into the the GOD SMACKin'
And dont forget IRONGLAND*
Not really a song to me
Now we are left with just three, yeah

HATE TO FEEL
At times it seems to be so real
ANGRY CHAIR
Lines " walls that steal the air** "

Just one song
All the others are mentioned on, noo
Layne is gone***
But Jerry soldiers on

If he could, WOULD you?
* IRONGLAND is track 10, not listed on the original CD. ** Line from ANGRY CHAIR, " angry walls that steal the air ". *** Layne Staley, Born August 22nd, 1967- Died April 5th, 2002 ( R.I P., indeed an " Angry Angel ". PS- Jerry Cantrell has released " Boggy Depot " and " Degradation Trip " with the remaining members of AiC.

Very clever and original! I must say, that put together very nicely. Layne WOULD be proud (but THEM BONES of his are DOWN IN A HOLE, buried in the DIRT). Sorry, I got carried away. Awesome parody!

Thanks Scrawny Johnny. I think this WOULD be cool for a AIC tribute band or local band who likes AIC to do if say they only had one song they could perform at a time ( I might Karaoke it *IF* I can find this CD with no vocals ( I do have a pretty decent voice, much better than my suck-a$$ typing ability )).

"Would?" is one of my favorite songs, but I haven't heard it in awhile. I should also get get some of my other favorite songs from different bands. I would like to vote on more songs.

My love for Alice In Chains is obviously shared by you and many others. I appreciate your tribute as I'm sure Layne himself "Would"

Ooh, I love puns! Sorry, I don't have one for this comment.... But I do have the Nothing Safe CD now, so I can read some of your parodies of AIC now! THe first time I heard Would was when I read this parody, and now I think it is a good song. See what your parodies do?! ANyway, great job, if I have the concept of the parody correct. 5's for you
Red Ant - July 09, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks Dominic, the concept was to make a tribute for Layne's death which was 3 years ago the day this was originally posted. Glad you bought "Nothing Safe". =)
