| Parody Song Title: | "On the Route Again" |
| Parody Written by: | Leo Keough |
This one is for anyone who ever had to deliver newspapers to supplement their income.
On the route again
Just can't wait to get on the route again
'Twas my beginning and it just might be my end
But I can't wait to get on the route again
On the route again
Serving stores whose hours never end
Greeting folks that I may never see again
And I can't wait to get on the route again
On the route again
Dodging deer and joggers, I fly down the byway
Through the curves and bends
Flinging USA Today into your driveway
And my way ...
Is on the route again
Just can't wait to get on the route again
Feel like a Kamakazi terror, full of Zen
And I can't wait to get on the route again
On the route again
I would like to finish before the break of day
Little left to spend
After Exxon Mobil takes its cut of my pay
But my way ...
Is on the route again
Just can't wait to get on the route again
'Twas my beginning and it just might be my end
But I can't wait to get on the route again
No I can't wait to get on the route again

Loved it, Leo, and, man, can I relate. The Washington Post route when I was 12 or 13 ( about 100 customers daily, 125 Sundays) cost me more than I earned in bike repairs and more than I wanted of bodily injury -- neither my scrawny 3-speed "English racer" nor my equaly scrawny self were designed to tote that many papers in a single handlebar basket, but I was damned if I was going to double back to the drop, which no delvery sequence could put anywhere near the middle of my route. :-)
I like your delivery.
Cute ditty, Sir! Fav line: . . feel like a Kamakazi . . full of Zen!
