John, Ant-Man was an original Avenger in the person of Hank Pym who harnessed Pym particles to shrink down in size to mere inches. His helmet gives him the ability to communicate with insects for help. He was originally paired with Janet Van Dyne who became the Wasp with surgically grafted wings. In the new movie, Hank Pym (played by Michael Douglas) has retired and enlists the help of a thief Scott Lang to assume the role of Ant-Man to steal a variant of his tech aquired by Darren Cross who becomes the evil Yellowjacket. Cross wants to militarize Pym's tech and take over the world.
