The Lyrics

Ernst Heinkel was not liked by the Nazis nor the RLM (Reichs Air Ministry). His amazing He-178 world's first jet plane that flew 3 days before WW2 started was rejected by the LW and RLM as unwanted (they had the Bf 109E). So, Heinkel then designed and built 9 prototypes of the He-280 world's first jet fighter equipped with the first ejection seats. Too bad, b/c Goering, the RLM, and LW went with Messerschmitt's Me-262 Schwalbe instead. Heinkel got so mad that he made a prop version of the He-280 as He-279 Spirale with the DB 604 X-engine of over 3000 hp. But this too just sat. His He-100 world record holder was also rejected in favor of the poor-performing Me Bf 110 that failed over England. Still, Heinkel tried to persuade Goering to allow production of his 4 engine strategic bomber, the He-277. Goering refused, so Heinkel kept development going under false designation He-177B. He also started the He-274 bomber in occupied France using French labor. After all bombers were cancelled in Oct 1944, Heinkel put his He-343 jet bomber components into storage and then finally won the emergency fighter competition with the He-162 Volksjaeger- the "People's Fighter." Heinkel had hundreds of project aircraft too that never got built. One can only speculate on what impact the Heinkel aircraft would have had in combat in numbers. The He-100 could have easily tackled the Hurris and Spits over England and the He-277 could have bombed the Soviet factories before they were shipped east of the Urals. The He-274 could have bombed NYC and the He-343 could have been the real German jet bomber that the Ar-234 was not (used primarily in fast recon role). Goering and the RLM prevented Heinkel from introducing better German aircraft into combat throughoutn the war, and that's a shame. Same for Focke-Wulf's Kurt Tank with the Fw-187 Falke, Fw-190TL, Fw Ta 154 Moskito, and Fw Triebflugel :(
Damn the RLM
Ernst Heinkel found himself in so many jams
Out of favor with the Nazis and their friends
Most of his best aircraft sat until wars end

Damn the RLM
Heinkel aircraft projects met dead-ends
Because Goering and Heinkel were never friends
Most of his best aircraft sat until wars end

Damn the RLM
Hitler, often led by Goering, had little sway
Because they were friends
Insisting the war was going their way
Weapons delayed, until the Reich mets its end!!!

Ernst Heinkel found himself in so many jams
Out of favor with the Nazis and their friends
Most of his best aircraft sat until wars end
