The Lyrics

Smith & Wesson recently stopped shipping auto-pistols to California due to a new law that went into effect Jan 1, 2014 after 7 years. The micro-stamping law that requires new auto-pistols to have a firing pin that stamps cartridges when fired. This, theoretically would lead law enforcement to the original purchase point, who bought the gun there, and exact gun used (by code). Seems reasonable, right? Not when it can be altered by criminals, removed, or simply worn down by wear of rounds fired. The new law has S&W halting shipments and now Ruger too. No word on foreign auto-pistols. The NRA claims that it has done tests that prove that the MS process is flawed and may be cost prohibitive to gun makers. Also, they pointed-out that if the gun is stolen the MS system is defeated completely. Why should Cali gun owners be treated differently than those in other states that aren't required to have a MS tech feature and can buy whatever auto-pistol they want? Cali has not only the toughest gun rules but the stupidest!!! Gun crime is not impacted at all...
Balks Smith & Wesson
Cali micro-stamping rules do offend
Shipping of auto-pistols to state at an end
Criminals can alter the mechanism

Balks Smith & Wesson
It’s all concerning the firing pin,
manufacturing, and new legislation
Criminals can alter the mechanism

Balks Smith & Wesson
Unfairness now pointed-out by the NRA
Bringing attention
Cali gun rights are being taken away
Owners pay, bullet ID questioned

Cali micro-stamping rules do offend
Shipping of auto-pistols to state at an end
Criminals can alter the mechanism

Note: MS tech has so far failed to consistently deliver legible markings on bullet casings ~ the National Shooting Sports Foundation, in a lawsuit to overturn the mandate, Fresno Superior Court

More mandates by tech illiterates. Stopping sales was the purpose of the law. I've replaced quite a few firing pins in my time.
