The Lyrics

Did it really take me this long to parody a U2 song? I must be going mad - like this poor sucker stuck on the island.
It's a stone but to my eyes
It's a Whopper, Coke and fries
I bite, bad move
This island plays tricks on me
I've been without food for seven weeks
And I wait for rescue

Stuck here without food
Waiting for rescue

There was once food here, no more
I ate it all, too fast for sure
Should've saved, too late to

There is no more food
No good water, too
I might eat off my own leg soon

There is nothing living here
'Cept the trees, but like you care
Fuzzy things, furry things
Those cute things I had to eat

I've lost my mind, well, bits of it
It's hard to keep it way out here
With nothing left to eat

Nothing edible is here
Ate it way too fast I fear
Coconuts, hard to crack
So I bashed them with my head

Stuck here without food
And it's my fault too
Ev'rything
Looks like it is food

Waiting for rescue
Hope that they bring food
Hope I don't
Mistake them for food
Just like the last crew
Hunger leads to savagery, savagery leads to desparation, desparation leads to madness, madness leads to cannibalism, - which probably leads to the Dark Side.

Very clever parody here Conqueror, Like I said before on the thread it's easy to write a food parody, but to make it original and good in that comes the challenge and you rose to the challenge with full force and in turn created a parody with full farce.

Loved the last line (For the rest see directly above).
Agrimorfee - January 08, 2009 - Report this comment
(Ages) Very clever...and thanks to Matthias for pointing out the last line, too.

(Ages) Nice rhyme matches with the OS for the first half. And yes, I too lol'd at the hilarious finish. Lord of the Fries with that?

You already know what I think of this one. Yes, I'm still a fan.

Sir, it is a deep fear of mine to be isolated on an island, and have no food, except to munch on nuts, seaGrass & catch Fish ! !
Chris Bodily TM - January 16, 2009 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Isn't Jeff Probst feeding you on that Island? Is GIlligan hogging the coconuts? Is Jack Shepard swiping your bananas (Thank you Wikipedia, since I don't watch LOST)? I'd hate to be stuck on an island without food. ANd this parody just made me hungry. LOL. 555 pizzas and burgers for you!
Chris Bodily TM - January 16, 2009 - Report this comment
^^^ I mean 455, the pacing wasn't perfect, but still a laughfest.

La isla Buneater? Now, that would be a Madonna parody... :-)

(Artistry) Have to say TCOP in the first line, you are "stuck here without food" but you have a "Whopper, Coke and Fries" at your disposal--not that I never make that kind of mistake, but it kinda confused me. After that this parody was really good though, some great lines, and an overall well written parody.

You can always eat yourself, that's what Pizza the Hutt did.

AGES...this made me laugh, Conq...great job with an old favorite OS. =)

Dave: The "Whopper, Coke and Fries" is actually a stone. The hunger is screwing with the main character's vision. Just clearing that up (didn't think it needed clearing up really, IMO).
Arwen - January 21, 2009 - Report this comment
It totally made sense, BPC! Those first lines were some of my favorites! I used to love it in old cartoons when Bugs Bunny or whoever would look at a rock and it would morph into a steak or something...
Jeff Reuben - January 22, 2009 - Report this comment
Ages: I got the whopper thing too, but when you start hallucinating, you have to leave no stone left unturned. Funny song, worked well with the OS!
Melanie Lee - January 24, 2009 - Report this comment
Good stuff; some good laughs. A little rough on the syllable accents--that is, the rises and falls of the words and the music didn't always match. Also, your words are too different from the original, like at times you're just setting your words to the tune rather than satirizing the song. All that criticism, and 5-5-5 anyway. Good job.
Invisible Boy - January 25, 2009 - Report this comment
Good idea Bobpie.
I got the "mirage" bit at the beginning, so no problem there.
Invisible Boy - January 25, 2009 - Report this comment
Oh yeah...great ending
McKludge - January 27, 2009 - Report this comment
SOTM - The ending reminded me of one of my favorite Futurama quotes:

"What happened to the old crew?"

"Ah, those poor sons of bit - the important thing is you're my new crew!" Chew on these 5s

(SOTM) well, I'm already hungry, savage, desperate and mad, so at least I know where I'm headed - funny idea conq, and damn you Luke for stealing the Lord of the Fries gag! - 555

(SOTM) See above, still liked it.

(SOTM) On second read, the first stanza is much more fun than I thought, I don't know how I missed the very first line--anyhow pacing is fantastic, and still a very good parody.
Matthias - September 29, 2010 - Report this comment
See above, above, above and above! Still like this one T-Cop!

3rd times the charm...give Stephen King's short story "Survivor Type" a look for a similar tale.

(ABC S/T) If I starve to death, I'd go nuts and kill myself because I can't live without food! Guess that's how Tom Hanks felt when he was "Cast Away", and same with Gilligan's crew! Feeding you 555 meals with this one!
Christie Marie M - October 05, 2010 - Report this comment
Well, I'm going to ask Mark to give you "Turkey Gizzards" now!

(ABC) Christie beat me to the punch(or witty comment, as it were), My parody had lots, and yours had none, but the both filled the funny bone!! Fivers

ABC-ST

COP - Quite Jeffrey Dahmer-ish with that ending. I like the surprise at the end. Very original thinking to finish the parody off as you have. I seldom know how anything I write will finish. I usually get inspired around the 2nd or 3rd line from the end of the write. If food were time this would be "ate" O'Clock!. Well done.
Abbott Skelding - October 11, 2010 - Report this comment
ABC (ST): Wasn't totally sure about this song, but the last verse redeemed it! Excellent job!
Andria - October 18, 2010 - Report this comment
(ABC S & T) Pretty good, not as good as some of your other work, but it's not George Hamlinton IV, Dr Music or Poli-tick-ly Incorrect either. Love the ending, reminds me of the Donner Party. :D Gorge on some 5s.
