The Lyrics

I used to explain the sightings away with tales of a delightful, kilt wearing, swimming elephant. That was before...
Down in the Loch! (LOCH!)
Down in the Loch! (LOCH!)
Down IN the Loch! (LOCH!)
Down in the Loch! (LOCH!)

Just the other day
Was splashin' and-a swimmin' in my fav'rite Scottish lake and then
Whoa! (WHOA!)
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh

Something passed my way
It almost ate my head I swear I prob'ly should be dead by now
Y'know! (NO!)
No no no no no

It might sound crazy but I've simply got to say it
I think those "Nessie" rumors might be true

She's in the Loch! (LOCH!)
Out in the Loch! (LOCH!)
Her HOME'S the Loch! (LOCH!)
It's Nessie's Loch! (LOCH!)

Got a feelin' that
She didn't like the way that I was floatin' in the bay
She made me go! (GO!)
Go go go go go

Saw her real close up
Her neck was long and skinny; almost stained my new bikini
Screamin' oh! (OH!)
Oh oh oh oh oh!

I used to think she was, at best, an urban legend
But that was be-fore she tried TO EAT ME!

Down in the Loch! (LOCH!)
Lunch at the Loch! (LOCH!)
Un-DER the Loch! (LOCH!)
The murky Loch! (LOCH!)

Was quite a shock! (SHOCK!)
Shock! (SHOCK!)
Shock! (SHOCK!)

Just off the dock! (DOCK!)
Dock! (DOCK!)
Dock! (DOCK!)

Be-HIND a rock! (ROCK!)
Rock! (ROCK!)
Rock! (ROCK!)

At three o'clock! (CLOCK!)
Clock! (CLOCK!)
Clock! (CLOCK!)

Out in the Loch!

(Guitar Solo, coupled with screams of terror, and much splashing and flailing)

She's in the Loch! (LOCH!)
Out in the Loch! (LOCH!)
Her HOME'S the Loch! (LOCH!)
It's Nessie's Loch! (LOCH!)

Go on, and mock! (MOCK!)
Mock! (MOCK!)
Mock! (MOCK!)

It's not a crock! (CROCK!)
Crock! (CROCK!)
Crock! (CROCK!)

She HAUNTS the Loch! (LOCH!)
Loch! (LOCH!)
Loch! (LOCH!)

(fade to end)
If you "get" the elephant comment up top, I'd like to you bow your head with me for a moment of silence in memory of "the good old days."

Aye Lass, twas a good one....or as the B-52's would say "It Wasn't A Crock, It Was A SEA MONSTER"

Even scientists are trying to keep that one alive - according to a recent PBS documentary.

thanks for clearing that up...5s

well, as the inventor of the "last-drowning-Scottish-elephant's-last-desperate-trunkload-of-air" theory (and I still have the photographic proof to back me up, thankyou sceptics) - which you artfully gave life to with your fetching Scottish kilt and bagpipes, Arwen, how could I not give this fives? - 555

I don't think I know this song...but hey, you get a 5-5-5 anyway.

Great write and great mate to the OS.... Nellie being all serpentine and all is a natch for a Twisted Sister!
Ann Hammond - September 19, 2006 - Report this comment
Something could exist. Good job on this

I never would have pegged you as a SMF, Arwen! Great job, and I sang along quite easily to TOS. Best line: "It almost ate my head...". Nice work, rawk on! 555.

Matthias...thanks a million! =)

2Eagle...I didn't catch the PBS show, but in all honesty, I'm the perfect candidate if anyone is trying to make themselves a believer. I get wrapped up in the mysteries of the unexplained (Nessie, Big Foot, The Continued Popularity of Tom Jones) pretty easily.

Alvin...consider it a PSA...=) Thanks!

Stuart...yeah, I figured you of all people would remember. Poor little elephant...lost so long before his time. I'm a little weepy now...

Ferragamo...hey, good to know you're so easy. I'm going to start writing complete crap...knowing that you, at least, will give me 5s. Well, you and Mr. Pacholek...I've got that guy wrapped around my little finger. ; ) (And yet, he's a no show here...so maybe I'd better not be so cocky...=(...Michael...I miss you!)

TJC...thanks a bunch. Originally I wanted to use the OS for a parody about Stonehenge...(A Lotta Rocks!)...but it didn't come together. This one had me smiling when I'd finished.

Ann...thanks. And I'm here to tell you something does exist. I don't know what it is...but I wasn't kidding up there with 2Eagle...I'm pretty gullible...

Red Ant...you have no idea how shocked I was when I found out the meaning of SMF in your referred context...Holy Cow! Here I was wondering how, from a little ditty about the Loch Ness Monster, you'd determined that I'm a member of the Singing Maidens of Fangorn club...; ) Thanks a ton, and RAWK ON indeed.

Responding to your response to me: Yes, Michael Pachloek is a frequent commentator on your parodies...or so I've noticed. Maybe he doesn't know this song either. I've also noticed that a woman named Serafina seems to regularly comment on your stuff...she's obviously a no-show on here too.

And for the record, the only song by this band that I know is "We're Not Gonna Take It."

This is floching fabulous!

I'll talk a little more then. A while ago I got a book which had stories about Dragons. I read the Curse Of The Lambton Worm. Taking the descriptions of the worm I was able to match it to a caecilian. Each of these stories seem to have truth. Animal Planet had reported that a reptile with wings had been found fully preserved with evidence that it could have flown and spat fire. In the case of nessie I think that something may have survived from the flood of Noah.

Och aye, lassie, this was a wee bonny parody! Btw...the last reported sighting of the monster was down the front of my pa...is that the time? Gotta go! ;-) 555

(Bowing my head) Excellent, excellent job! This one's a Loch for the top three!
Stuart McArthur - October 08, 2006 - Report this comment
(decath4) yes, well, once "urban legend"s start to eat you, Arwen, the balance of evidence starts to lean more towards the "horrific reality" camp - although it's hard to think of anyone called Nessie as horrific - RIP Duncan
