The Lyrics

This is probably one of my darker parodies. But the idea entered my head when I saw that A Titanic Parody was recently written, so here's my rendition of a Pogues classic, only about the 1912 disaster.
The ocean, it is silent now
And new ghosts now haunt the waves
And a ship sinks down to the abyss
One which we could not save
Were you sent out on a lifeboat?
S.O.S. for help, you tried?
Or did you freeze in the water
Releasing your soul to the sky?

Or we pulled you from the water
And we tried to make you dry
Lost your son, your wife, and daughter
Harvested like last years rye
We've paid the price for foolishness
Living through this painful night
And we didn't even finish up
Our first trip on this might

Hundreds are freezing
In the cold west Atlantic
As our ship had struck a berg of ice
Which led them all to their demise
Women and children first
Close off all the third class halls
Our time's not long, before we sink
Faster than we care to think
And we pray...

The Atlantic's frozen waters
On abyssal darkened plains
We sink one by one so lifeless
And we wait for Heaven's Train
Then a ship's horn broke the silence
The Carpathia's arrived
Stay alive a little longer
To keep warm is what we strive

And we said goodnight to dear Smith
With his ship he has gone down
Tipped our hats to Mr. Phillips
He radioed ships all around
Then we made a toast, to those who froze
And a dozen more inside
When they pulled my on the ship's dry dock
I simply hung my head and cried

Hundred have frozen
In icy ocean waters
Where a ship's sunk down into the sea
Their life branches cut from the tree
Music plays through the night
As nearer to God we draw to thee
The lights, they flicker once or twice
Cause bad steel impacted on ice
And we pray to our Father
Yes we pray...

Hundred have frozen
In icy ocean waters
Where a ship's sunk down into the sea
Their life branches cut from the tree
Wherever we go, we remember
The ones we lost that dreadful night
Saved by grave and trinity
We head on to New York City
And we pray to our Father
Yes we pray...
Anyone notice how I never used the word Titanic in this spoof?
