The Lyrics

Well, it's that time of the football season when all the talk is of transfers - who's going to transfer to whom for how much (or should that be "for HOW MUCH?!?!?")
Tott'nham, you gotta let me know
Will he stay or will he go?
Champions League may be the reason
He won't be here another season
And there's the lure of lots of dough
Will he stay or will he go?

Always Bale, Bale, Bale
Is he or is he not for sale?
Sometimes I think Spurs would be crackers
Turn down a hundred million smackers?
But him to leave would be a blow
Will he stay or will he go?

Will he stay or will he go now?
Will he stay or will he go now?
If he goes there will be lolly
But if he stays would it be folly?
So come on and let me know

Luis Suarez me molesta
Will he be sold to Arsene Wenger?
40 mill? Who are they kidding
Who told him what he should be bidding?
Must have been someone in the know
So tell his agent: mate, you blow

Will he stay or will he go now?
Then of course there is Wayne Rooney
Better make up his mind, and soon-ey
Tell me Bale, Suarez and co
Will you stay or will you go?

Thanks, Jonathan.
..have to admit I'm intruigued by the 2-2-2 vote: is that from someone who normally votes 1s, but decided this was so good he couldn't help himself and just had to give it a step up, or an Arsenal supporter who has realized that Suarez probably isn't going there after all.

Well, I'm an Arsenal supporter, and... Spend 40 million on a guy who constantly dives and does other things to get himself suspended? As Wenger himself should say, "No, I do not see it." But the use of the Clash to tell the tale of a time that makes baseball's trading deadline look like a quiet time is bloody hilarious.

I find myself wondering what Wenger was playing at with that bid: he hasn't struck me as the type to play the "let's unsettle a player" mind games (er.. don't mention Cabaye.. though surely Arsenal would have been better served by a full-strength Newcastle). To be fair to Suarez, although he was almost olymic-standard diving, last season he had really turned that around: replays always seemed to show that he had been caught, even though he rarely got the decisions; nice to see him really getting the bit between his teeth.
