Song Parodies -> Jody McBrayer
| Original Song Title: | "Mr. Roboto" |
| Original Performer: | Styx |
| Parody Song Title: | "Jody McBrayer" |
| Parody Written by: | Edward Genereux |
This, my 49th parody, is a tribute to former Avalon member Jody McBrayer. He retired in early 2008, having warned Avalon fans a few months earlier and was replaced by Jeremi Richardson. Of the original four members, only Janna Long (whose husband Greg is also in the group) remains a member thereof. Therefore, I decided, in honour of the first album without Jody, to write a tribute parody of Styx's last great hit during their golden era (1976-1983). I hope you enjoy it.
We are gonna miss you, Jody McBrayer.
We are gonna miss you, Jody McBrayer;
Avalon now is wrecked.
We are gonna miss you, Jody McBrayer;
It is a pain in the neck.
You're wondering why he quit: (Jody, Jody--we'll miss you, Jody!)Disease or Sparrow's(1) sh**? (Jody, Jody--we'll miss you, Jody!)
You were so closely knit; (Jody, Jody--we'll miss you, Jody!)
The Doves (2) loved all your hits.
I'll miss you, Jody;
You were the greatest
After the fall
Of Michael Passons (3)
And Cherie Adams. (4)
You answered the call
To keep recording;
'Twas not boring
When, on The Creed (5)
You sang with power
At all hours
And fought Sparrow's greed;
You kept just for need,
Only for need.
You fought their greed
And kept just for need.
You weren't so powered
By your emotions;
I hope all will see
On Stand (6) you sang well
And your preaching
In song worked for me.
Jody, your album
This Is Where I Stand (7)
I never did own,
Yet I just wonder
Since you're not there,
Has the group really grown?
Has it really grown, has it really grown?
It just ain't grown, it never will grow.
(Follows same pattern as "You're wondering..." above)
Their album Greatest Hits
Is never worth a sh**
'Cos no one else quite knows
Without you, they're no-shows.
We are gonna miss you, Jody McBrayer--we will, we will. (2x)
We are gonna miss you, Jody McBrayer. (4x; continues in background during following lines)
Happy golden years now, Jody McBrayer
'Cos you made a choice nobody wants to.
Happy golden years, Jody McBrayer
'Cos you made your escape ere you met your doom.
See you, see you later.
I'll see you later; please see me.
The problem was, your heart
Could land you on a cart
Of mourning and of death;
I guess you still have breath.
The group said: "This is it--
We're gonna miss your wit."
Now everyone will know
This group is of no-shows.
He's Jody, Jody, Jody, Jody.
