The Lyrics

I can't believe no one parodied this song before. So here's a little ditty about LotR
Frodo Frodo-do, Frodo Frodo-do
Frodo Frodo-do, Bilbo Bilbo

Frodo Frodo-do, Frodo Frodo-do
Frodo Frodo-do, Bilbo Bilbo

In the Land of Mordor where Shadows lie
Sauron questioned Gollum, “where’s the Ring?” and he cried
The dang Shire
The dang Shire

So he grabbed seven Riders, told ‘em here’s your job
Begin searching for a Baggins, find that lazy Hob
In the Shire
The dang Shire, dang Shire
Clad in black attire, baby
The dang Shire, dang Shire
Clad in black attire, baby

So then Gandalf the Grey
Sent off Frodo and Sam
Hiking to Bree
They’re out on the lam
Fighting for good
Nine would conspire
In Rivendell, in Rivendell
Not the Shire

Dang Shire, dang Shire, dang Shire
Things are looking dire, baby
Dang Shire, dang Shire, dang Shire, dang Shire
Dang Shire, dang Shire
Things are looking dire, baby

Frodo Frodo-do, Frodo Frodo-do
Frodo Frodo-do, Bilbo Bilbo
Frodo Frodo-do, Frodo Frodo-do
(Dang Shire, dang Shire, dang Shire)
Frodo Frodo-do, Bilbo Bilbo

Frodo Frodo-do, Frodo Frodo-do
(Dang Shire, dang Shire)
Frodo Frodo-do, Bilbo Bilbo
(Searching with his eye-r baby)
Frodo Frodo-do, Frodo Frodo-do
Frodo Frodo-do, Bilbo Bilbo

So they traveled into Mordor in the fumes and gloom
Unmake the Ring in the Mountain of Doom
Dang Shire, the dang shire dang shire
Throw it in the fire baby
(Frodo Frodo-do, Frodo Frodo-do
Frodo Frodo-do, Bilbo Bilbo)
Dang Shire, dang Shire
Throw it in the fire baby
(Bilbo Bilbo-bo, Bilbo Bilbo-bo
Bilbo Bilbo-bo, Frodo Frodo)
Dang Shire, dang Shire, dang Shire, dang Shire
Throw it in the fire baby
Throw it in the fire!
I posted this on Saturday, but the crash killed it.

Great job on a great tune! (What the hell does "hang fire" mean anyway?)

When the gunpowder in a fire arm burns too slow to generate an explosion, it's called a hang fire. What that has to do with what Mick is singing about, I don't know.

:-) Always like LOTR parodies, but can't remember hearing this OS for decades... Weren't there nine nazgul, though? Incidentally, I've written what could be describe as a prequel to this (a transcript of the meeting between Gollum and Sauron) - http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/gilbertandsullivanthemikado4.shtml

Yes, there were nine Nazgul, but Sauron only sent seven of them after the ring, according to the book.

I wonder, then, if Peter Jackson had all nine of 'em there in FOTR to forestall the "..but aren't there nine?" comments? I've only read the books half-a-dozen times, so must have managed to miss that little snippet :-) But all nine must have been together by the time they were washed away at Rivendell...

I may be wrong, but I think that seven of the Nazgul resided in Mordor, but the Witch-King and his Lieutenant resided in Minas Morgul. In the movies, that's the castle where the stairs to Cirith Ungol start (in RotK), and from where the assault on Gondor started. Oops, my nerd is showing ... I'll have to go back and watch the movies again to see how many were chasing Frodo and Arwen.
