The Lyrics

A generic story about a generic prince going after a generic princess. Cliches, don't you love 'em?
(Prince:)
Princess wherever you are
Here I come
Think about the rope bridge
Wonder if I can get across
So Princess just stay where you are
I'll be there
Think about the vicious dragon
Wonder if I'll kill it or not

If I take the left, I might get lost
But if I go right, some guy says it costs
But yes, I'm going to save you somehow
All right, I'm coming, you don't have to shout!

(Princess:)
Oh Prince, wherever can you be?
I'm waiting
Think about his visage
WOnder if he's too short or tall
Oh Prince, I am waiting to see
You arrive
Think about the castle layout
Wonder if he'll find me at all

(Prince:)
My feet are running, across grass and sand
My head it spins, 'cause you're in demand
If I didn't go, the rest would be running
Though it is raining
I am still coming

Princess please don't give up hope
I'll get there
Think about my transport
Wonder if I should get a horse
Well, Princess there's no need to mope
Don't be sad
Think about this guy in my way
Wonder if I have to use force

(Princess:)
I look through the trees, to see if you're coming
When will you be there?
Hope you're still running
Your hand is holding a big metal sword
The sword that's there could wipe out a hoard

Oh Prince (PRINCE!)
Where are you?
Think about our wedding
Wonder if it should be in June
Oh Prince (PRINCE!)
Please come fast
Think about our future children
Wonder what we'll name them

(Prince:)
Princess just stay in your room
Almost there
Think about detection
Wonder if you cannot see me
Oh Princess I am coming soon
Just 'bout there
Think about the place I come from
Wonder if my parents miss me

Princess just stay where you are (Here I come)
Princess just don't go too far (Don't be sad)
The dragon's dying, you know that was me (Princess there's no need
to fear) (That thing's dead)
The door it knocks, and guess who appears (Princess I'm finally
here)
I'm your Prince
I guess that last bit was a little confusing. Now, off to compose my rock opera...

Pretty good, bobpie! I LOVED the idea, and I reckon you could have got alot more humour mileage out of the concept. But this is still 5-worthy.

I liked the idea of sending up all those fairytale cliches, bobpie, and I didn't think I knew this OS and then discovered it in my itunes, so I learnt a new song as well - not hilarious, but definitely a good read - 555

Great song, Very Shrek-like

(AGES) Not high on the funny, but well-constructed in how the singer accents "Prin-CESS" in the chorus. With the song's ending, it painted a great picture of the Prince rushing to meet his lady fair.

Hee, hee, hee. Now, really, can you even imagine Prince Charming or Lancelot doing all that thinking? Which, of course, is what makes this funny!---MM

like michael said who'd have thought that a 2 dimentional character was so 3 dimentional ! great parody 555

(Ages) Not bad, but I am going to be honest and say I have read better by you. This one was very generic, then again you said that. . .still deserving of a 5 though. . .

(Ages) Nice job! As said earlier, it made me think of Shrek, and for some reason, the line "Think about my transport Wonder if I should get a horse" made me crack up because of its obviousness.

LOVED IT! 5s

Lol, it reminds me of Shrek as well. Funny, 5s.

This one actually made me think of Enchanted. Not surprising, due to the fact that you put a pic of Prince Edward on the entry thread. 555, and I'm looking forward to your rock opera.

(ABC P) Read like a Disney movie; I did like the back and forth between the two.

(ABC05P)

Yeah - I agree with the concensus it is very Shrek like. Well done.
Stuart McArthur - September 15, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC) see above, and I'm tipping that if there's a man standing between you and your princess, bobpie, you almost definitely will need to use force - those princesses are usually jealously guarded, and btw, what baby names did you have in mind?

(ABC) A "charming" parody!!
Abbott Skelding - September 15, 2009 - Report this comment
ABC: Nice job! I really like it, I haven't heard the original song in awhile so it was fun to hear it again...I really like the back and forth between the two characters, excellent!

(ABC) I knight thee Sir Conqueror of Parodies, with 555 gold pieces and my daughter's hand in marriage! BTW, I thought of Star Wars and The Princess Bride as I read this (and a little Snow White, too)!

This is a tough round, TCOP, on my second read I like it better than when I saw it in Ages, it's cute in it's own right and for some reason made me think of Shrek. . .that's a good thing by the way :)
Red Ant - September 19, 2009 - Report this comment
I think I heard this in the soundtrack to "The Princess Fives". =) Fun work, though I was kinda hoping this would be about Prince the singer, it was a good parody all the same.
Matthias - September 19, 2009 - Report this comment
I remember this contest very well as it was the first 10 round contest that I've ever hosted it leaves a special place in my heart, and this round was a lot of fun back then and this song is even fun now. Although I never thought that this was one of REM's best songs...
