"Funny How He Wore One Glove"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Rest in peace, Michael...
He wore one glove, and danced, the scandals grew
His style, talked of, and ways, they frowned on it
Drug use deadly

Funny how he wore one glove

His world (his world) got shoved
(Got shoved)
He slept (Like a baby)
Like a ladle he spooned
Boys' claims (oh ohh)
No pride (oh ohh)
They shook his money like a piggy bank
He had to pay it

Funny how he wore one glove

His digs were stately
Fit for kings of Rock n' Roll
Last days were hazy
Took in too much pain relievers
Then he left life in such huge huge debt

Now family will drool, relaxed, got bucks
Death gets bucks back
They're not, discrete, pay-hike
They'll live a good life on the blood of Mike
He's missed already

Funny how he wore one glove

The public are cruel, no facts, jumped ship
Strange gets attacked
Just a grown kid, that's Mike
He's entertainment's king what's not to like
God said he's ready (Knew already)

Miss now how he wore one glove

He wore, one glove, and sang, some classic hits
Now God, above, hears new eternal hits

Peace now Michael

Funny how you wore one glove

Nice, balanced tribute.

I couldn't help but have similar thoughts during yesterday's memorial service... Even in death, everyone wanted to use him for their own ends. How sad. But what a beautifully crafted lyric from you!

"There is good and bad in everyone." from "Ebony and Ivory"

A glove has 5 fingers and you'll be wearing three of them.

The pacing, OS, and lyrics of your parody fits like a glove!! I remembered going on eBay awhile back and you'll never believe how much Michael Jackson's glove was worth: $51,000 (not kidding)! Well, it's not on the auction list anymore...whoever bade high on that glove had to be a millionaire, I guess! 5's!

Mark--On the J/K Voting thread, you need to let us know who you intended for 4th place, you accidentally put Silver Power's name twice, and the deadline is tomorrow...

Thanks, Andy! Who knows the real truth about Michael, probably just him. Makes for good parody, though....

We did lose one hell of a performer and your memorial to the weird and wacky Michael Jackson has taken great strides in your work. Still rings true today even though it happened last year. I can remember how much of an impact it made on the musical world.

Thanks, Matthias. It was a sad day(with Farah as well...)

I saw MJ's glove used for the 1984 Pepsi TV ad at the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame + Museum in Cleveland. I also saw his red and blue Sgt. Pepper-inspired band jackets (very cool!) there and a pair of his shades. Yes he was a bit strange but I also grew up listening to other unique idols like Bruce, Prince, Peter Gabriel, U2, Pink Floyd, Stones, Genesis and of course Billy Idol (not an "American idol"). The day we lost Michael Jackson was very sad and compounded even worse when Farrah died. As for her I'll just say she hit the scene at the right time for me because I had just started feeling strange new things about girls... say no more. A double whammy. Also that same day proto-punk pioneer Sky Saxon went to the great gig in the sky (he's well known on the West Coast). You made a stellar, fitting and true tribute to the legacy of the Thriller. Kudos.

Artistry: Great tribute, but one (small) thing, broke my rule of rhyming a word with the same word at the very end (also known as the Limp Bizkit Rule). But great job either way!

Thanks and you are right on that, Abbott. i put this one out fast at the time of tribute and i did notice that. I've improved it since, but it wasn't necessary to re=post...

The Limp Bizkit rule Abbott? That's funny. . .I've seen this one a few times. . .You know the funny thing about TOS, I for the longest time thought it was an Elvis song until I saw it performed on American Idol and it was introduced as Queen--shows an obvious influence from the King, Queen was a multi-talented band they were, Freddie Mercury's untimely death ended it, but their music, like MJs, survives.
Agrimorfee - November 24, 2010 - Report this comment
A fine tribute. I'm sure Freddy would have approved.
Mark Scotti - November 24, 2010 - Report this comment
Thanks Agri. I can hear him singing it...(Freddy need a good tribute too...)

Mark - I have never been a MJ fan, ever - even before all his history. I think you called this one just as you see it. Even though I never liked his work I was saddened to see him pass. Proper tribute here.

I focused immediately in on the "one glove" ref. One thing that the military frowns upon is having your hands in your pockets while in uniform. They make gloves to be worn with any uniform, so they say if your hands are cold, get some gloves. A lot of times when I am at work I have my hands in my pockets. Just an old habit. I haven't worn the uniform in years but I work with a lot of ex military. The non USAF vets give me a hard time (just friendly inter-service rivalry). They "compliment" me on my fine pair of USAF gloves. My comeback is that I remove one hand from one pocket and ask them if they know who I am now? I usually get a shrug then an LOL when I say "It's Michael Jackson in the USAF,

Three full five fingered gloves. You can use the third one on one of your feet. =;-)

I never got to see MJ in concert but I've seen Billy Idol live and he was wearing his trademark fingerless glove. Later during the show he was wearing a full-fingered "metallic sheen" glove. The lighting made him look like a cyborg, or rather a CYBERPUNK - and that was the title of his next album.
