This is my second AMC-themed parody, the first being "AMX". The AMC S/C Rambler series challenged the Big Three with an economical street-racer which at that time cost under $3k. The official name was AMC S/C Rambler, but this soon gave way to the term "Scrambler". I have chosen a mix of SCRambler to keep the song two-syllable like Madonna's "Gambler" (S/C Rambler would be 4 syllables) and to acknowledge the Rambler part! Anyway, the Scrambler caused shock waves when it came out b/c it was made by AMC and had a decent 390 V-8 of 315 hp with 425 lb-ft torque, Polyglas tires, tach on the column, Hurst shifter four-speed, hood scoop, and draped in the colors of the flag- red, white, and blue. It was not the usual bread-and-butter, green-on-green, 4-door sedan that paid the rent for the dealers of that time. So it drew lots of attention from the younger generation and had the right price. It was no frills, so no air conditioning, power steering, bucket seats, etc... but it made up for that with 3.54 Twin Grip rear axel, powered front disc brakes, All-American head rests, and the performance features listed above. The only option for a Scramber was a push-button AM radio!!! Yet AMC sold over 1500 of them and they were a success. All came off the assembly lines at Kenosha with beefed-up frames!!!

I listen and like Madonna, but don't ever recall hearing "Scrambler" but your parody looks like it fits the topic well, ;-) So I still can give 5's for that!

Madonna's "Gambler" was in the movie "Visionquest" in which she performed as a singer...
