The Lyrics

"During hard workouts I frequently call upon the mantra 'this is where you want to be'. I came up with this mantra after thinking about how a big part of the experience of suffering in hard running is the desire for the effort to be over with. I want to press a magical fast-forward button that transports me past he pain. Yet when I go to be at night, I think about running hard before sleep washes over me. My life largely revolves around creating opportunities to run hard. Running hard is one of my most treasured experiences in life - especially when I'm not doing it. So when I am running hard, I like to remind myself that I am exactly where I really want to be. 'You've been waiting all week for this workout', I'll think, 'and tonight when you go to bed, you're going to remember it fondly. So let's not wish it over with while we're actually here experiencing it'."

A quote from the book "Run - The Mind-Body Method Of Running By Feel" by Matt Fitzgerald.

Spoken: "Come an' hear de crazy man"

Last week I ran like a weirdo
Just passed and then was gone, I pelt along
Love that, such speed should be treasured
It sure was some speed work day, more than OK

Maxed out my velocity
Like a lion's after me
That is where I wanna be
On legs near finito
And on the final raid
The run did make me high
Sped up my legs and burned my thighs
As sweat got in my eyes

I try to outrun my hairdo
Whirlwinds they got naught on me, because you see
Endorphins' my ammo
I aim to exceed my dash, become a flash

Top out my velocity
Up my cadence rhythmic'lly
'Cos that's where I wanna be
On legs near finito
An' add carbed lemonade
The run will make me high
Speed up my legs and raise my mind
As miles subside behind

I wanna feel yet one more Runners High
When I fly through the forest so that hares drop and cry
Every day running on tracks of this world
'Til my wind lifts me over the wall - all unfurled

Next time I'll run for déjà-vu
It'll be an all speed work day, that is to say

Max out my velocity
Up my cadence frequency
So I'm where I wanna be
On legs near finito
And like a rotor blade
The run will take me high
Speed up my legs and in replay
Have sweat get in my eyes

Top out my velocity
Like a cheetah's after me
Yes, that's where I want to be
On legs near finito
And without further aid
The run will make me high
Speed up my legs and make me fly
As miles subside behind

(Here the song enter its cooldown stretch)

So, funny story...when I opened the video and started following your lyrics, it seemed really difficult to me, because there was a heavy amount of background vocals. Turns out, I opened the video twice and didn't realize it was playing at different times haha. Anyway, nice parody, fits really well with the OS.

Just like The Flash you're running 555 mph! You've already circled the Earth twice while I was writing this comment.

(SOTM) I am glad that you can run so fast, I have shin splints in my legs, and it hurts like hell for me to run! :-( But great parody, A mad dash to the finish line and took the first place 555 trophy!

I'll be thinking of this one while I'm running today. Well done. Especially the pacing...for the song and the run!

(SOTM) Run, run, run as fast as you can, I can't catch you, you're the Parody Man! Fantastic parody about a very simple topic - running. 555 kilometres and counting...
