The Lyrics

A little voodoo humor here! This was originally one of my choices for Decath, and I wanted to spoof this OS for quite some time. I always loved to parody this song one day. This is about a stab happy man who loves to poke voodoo dolls inflicting pain. Here's the link to the OS: Madonna's Like A Prayer
Carving my effigy
My image he starts to form
And now he chants my name
Cursing spells with…scorn!

My doll he had slain
He’s a mad voodoo slayer
Fell down on my knees
Just as he stabbed me there
With his voodoo power
Maims me every hour
Just like a slayer
He stabs me everywhere

I feel strong pain
I’m clutching my heart, crying
My chest he’s slain
My abs he’s maimed
Feels I’m dying

He stabs my thighs
Oh, God, he’s going crazy!
He jabs my eyes, I’m losing sight
Someone, help me!

Inflicted my pain
A real stab happy slayer
Pricks me as he pleased
He’ll stab me everywhere
I’m under his power
Feel like fragile flower
Just like a slayer
He stabs me without care

Through a crowd
People stare strangely at me
I’ve lost control
They glared and scowled
Now they’re whisp’ring

I get migraines
No Tylenol can cure me
Feel like a freak
Because that creep
Showed no decency

Then he stabs my back
After he pulls my hair
Blowing a strong breeze*
I’m flying in the air
I feel like a puppet
Wished that he would stop it
That voodoo slayer
He stabbed and maimed me there

Then he burns my feet
I felt I’ve walked on fire
Got to get that creep
Who’s causing all my ire
I’m under his power
Made me fear and cower
Just like a slayer
My pain he’ll never spare

(Oh-oh… Oh-oh… Oh-oh…Oh-oh)
(continues at the background)

He’s put a curse on me
Now the very damage done
I start to feel insane
I’ll be on the…

Run…that voodoo slayer
(Oh-oh)
He’ll stab me anywhere
(Oh-oh)
He made me such a freak
(Oh-oh)
I act so clumsily
(Oh-oh)
I’m getting steamed
(Oh-oh)
How could I get that creep?
That voodoo slayer
My pain caused him to grin and bare

(Crowd Chanting):
Just like a slayer…he stabs her there
Out loud, she wildly screams
(Hmm…mmm…mmm…mmm)
That voodoo slayer…he’s got no care
(He doesn’t care)
Christie acts like a freak!
(Oh, oh, yeah-yeah)
He pricks her there…throws evil glare
(He’ll stick her there)
He grins so evilly
(Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
He needs some help…he’s a madman
(Oh, oh, oh)
Or he’ll cause her to bleed!
(Oh, oh, oh)

That evil slayer
(Stop)
He likes to maim me there
(That sneak!)
He laughs sadistically
(Daft creep!)
I’m feeling enmity
(Find that sneak)
I’ll track that creep
So just you wait and see
I’ll get that slayer
I’ll put his voodoo days to end

To get that slayer
(Make)
Find ways to stop him there
(His doll)
Create his effigy
(His form)
Voodoo battle you’ll see
I'll maim that slayer
Now he'll be suffering
I’ll nab that slayer
Put his stab happy days to end!

I’ll fight him to the end!
Then I’ll win!

(Chanting ad-lib, then fade to the end)

NOTE: Compared to other parodies that I had to write in previous parody contests, this didn't take that long.

Great idea - if you make the movie, make sure you leave the scene in where the crowd is chanting as you wildly scream out loud (while your there is being pricked).
Christie Marie M - March 12, 2010 - Report this comment
"Voodoo spells" of thanks to everybody!! :)

AFW - In the words of Huey Lewis: "I'm so happy to be stuck with you!"

TJC - Glad that you do love the voodoo!

FG - I'll receive anything from you anytime!

Andy - That's an awesome idea for a movie. Speaking of which, I was thinking about that "Witches of Eastwick" movie when I thought of this parody. If I do think about it, I'm going to have to get my film making friend to make the movie, though. I got the idea for the chanting crowd from the scene when Jack Nicholson from "Eastwick" was giving a speech in church while the witches triple-team him with his voodoo doll. :)

Funny. Reminds me of Weekend at Bernie's 2. Just watch out for dog voodoo. Anyway, 5's
Christie Marie M - March 12, 2010 - Report this comment
Thanks, Phil! :)...Sticking ya thanks! Yeah, Bernie's 2 was a very hilarious movie! I'll definitely watch for dog voodoo! I've got to see that movie again! :)

One of Madonna's toughest OS, was one of my favorites of hers (which is why I myself parodied it back when I was a bit newer to AmIRight) I'll leave a detailed review in Artistry as is customary of me, but good job.
Christie Marie M - March 13, 2010 - Report this comment
Thanks, B.A. Dave! :)...Yeah, this OS is kind of tough. At first, I didn't think that I would pull this off. For me, it's kind of hard to write a great parody because I'm prone to writers' and submitters' block and coming up with the perfect lyrics is like trying to fit the pieces of a 1000 piece puzzle. But since this was an easy OS for me and one of my fave Madonna OS, instead of the "puzzle" situation, I was like an artist "sketching" the lyrics...hence the name "Artistry". Oh, I did recall that you did write "Like A Craft" a while back using the same OS. I'll look at it right now. Glad you enjoyed my parody!
Rex - March 13, 2010 - Report this comment
Excellent job with a tricky OS.
Agrimorfee - March 13, 2010 - Report this comment
Maybe you were intending to keep the style of the OS going here, but I found this to be a bit repetitive.
George Carlin - March 13, 2010 - Report this comment
"It's OK to prick your finger, but it's not OK to finger ....' ;)

There are some people I'd like to hang in Effigy, which is a small town outside of Cedar Rapids. ;) 555 for getting the turtle sitting on "Needles And Pins". (That's an actual OS -- 60s -- Seekers, I think -- check it out. Natural OS for this theme.)
Christie Marie M - March 13, 2010 - Report this comment
Thanks to Rex, Agrimorfee, and George Carlin (Tommy Turtle)! :)

Rex - A tricky OS indeed, but I managed to pull it off!
Agri - You're right about it being a bit repetitive. Your honesty is very appreciated. I could've used some variation in the song, but I just couldn't think of any other words. Other than that, glad you enjoyed!

George Carlin (TT) - LOL @ your comment on "fingering!" Pins and needles is all that is! Hey..."Needles and Pins!" I'll check the OS some time. Would be a perfect idea to spoof for voodoo humor, but you can write a voodoo parody about it if you wished.
Kristof Robertson - March 14, 2010 - Report this comment
I don't know whether to laugh or be a little bit frightened. Touch OS, but you really "pinned it down"...excellent. 555
TT - March 14, 2010 - Report this comment
No, Christie, it was a gift (idea) for you. Not my genre anyway. ;) Yes, it's a perfect fit -- Looking forward to it!
Christie Marie M - March 14, 2010 - Report this comment
Thanks to Kristof and TT (again)! :)

Kristof - I hear how you're feeling. "Pinning" you with thanks! Glad you enjoyed!

TT - Thanks again! I'll think of that idea someday, but not soon. The reason I mentioned that you would spoof the OS is that you're a talented parody artist who can really pace the OS, even the background vocals, which I learned from you on some of your parodies, and you're good with humor and vary choruses very well. Thanks for stopping by again!

(Artistry) There's something I wanna say...can't really pin it down...oh yeah...you are CRAZY!!! This is great! I won't make anymore pin/needle puns because all the good ones are taken...

Thanks, Sync! :)...Also "pinning" you with thanks, and yes, I am CRAZY...about this song and subject....and your v/c! Sometimes I would repeat the same puns again and again, just so you know!

(Artistry) So he has voodoo, but does he have hoodoo? Does he have things he hasn't tried? And above all, does he have friends on the other side? Disney villain song paraphrasing aside, this was very well done, and a little bit creepy. Would've gone great in the Decathlon. 55F, er, 555 (crazy security codes)!

Jareth: You remind me of the babe.
Goblin: What babe?
Jareth: The babe with the power.
Goblin: What power?
Jareth: The power of voodoo.
Goblin: Who do?
Jareth: You do.
Goblin: Do what?
Jareth: Remind me of the babe.

Just quoting the scene from the movie "Labyrinth!"
Also, great poem from your comment! LOL! That was one of my choices in Decath at first as I've mentioned. At the time I was fickle about my choices as to what I should write in Decath. Thanks for v/c. Glad you enjoyed!

You should read/listen to my parody of this song, it's ironic that both of us came to variations of withcraft. In my case based on the movie Craft. I have to be 100% honest and say I found most of this round to be average in parody quality, Rex's was an exception, and you are the other. This was very well written, funny, unique, and frankly it's my favorite CMM parody to date. In fact, If I were to ever record one by you. . .it'd be this one. Awesome job, I was delightfully surprised when I read this because I wasn't expecting to get it, and had no clue what to expect-which usually results in a bad parody experience--great job.
Christie Marie M - March 26, 2010 - Report this comment
Thanks again, Dave! :)... As a matter of fact, I did listen to your recording of your parody "Like The Craft" and you sounded great! You also did a great job spoofing the OS and I agree with you about being ironic about variations of witchcraft. Truth is, this was one of my choices for Decath Round 10 at first. I also love the movie as well and you did pick the perfect OS for it. You even did a great job varying the verses and choruses. I'll say it once and I'll say it again...you taught me to switch up the choruses a while back in my "Devon Werkheiser" parody and it worked! So out of all my parodies, you said this was your favorite? I am so touched. Also, if you like to record my parody, by all means do so! :) Thanks again for v/c! Glad you enjoyed! I'm still one of your biggest fans!!

Still as great as it was when I read it back in the Madonna round! You and me were on similar wave-lengths for the ABC contest because both of ours were Halloween based.

Matthias - Yeah, it's so awesome for us to have Halloween based parodies in this round! Glad you enjoyed this the second time around!

Thanks lots, Guy and Andria! :)

Guy - Glad you enjoyed my parody and this idea of voodoo just came to me. When we used to have the Decathlon round for Horror and Violence and Electronica, this was originally my first choice. Oh, and like what Andria mentioned, it's not the first time that our names had been mixed up. i hope you meant my name.

Andria - It's true that our names had been mixed up often. I also agree that it isn't the first time I've been mixed up with you as well, because we are kind of alike in some ways. There are times where I also mixed up BA Dave and Matthias. :-) BTW, enjoyed your Lou Zer parody because of the content of a Madoff wannabe parody and I also love the OS as well.

(ABC K & L) Commented once before to clear up confusion, but didn't vote or critique. Great parody here, scary and gruesome but not on the level of some of my work, and 5-worthy. When someone's been writing parodies as long as CMM has, and has done other literary stuff on the side (poetry, in her case), almost every parody is bound to be good.

About the confusion between Christie and I: We were born in the same year, have similar parodying and commenting styles, have similar taste in a lot of things, same species and gender, and are roughly the same height/weight, but the resemblance stops there. (not sure if her blood type is the same, though.)
Christie Marie M - July 17, 2010 - Report this comment
Thanks lots, Andria! :)...As a matter of fact, you've written parodies way longer than I have, since you set foot on AIR on 2003, well you know that. I'm going to tell you the same thing I told everyone a few days ago: You are a parody laureate and you are very humorous with every parody you write. Also, ditto on the confusion between yourself and I.

Andria, forgive my lack of clarity, I didn't actually tell everyone about you being a parody laureate. I actually meant that I told individual parody authors (meaning I told Tommy Turtle, Mark Scotti, you, etc.) that they're parody laureates. Sorry to confuse you and disappoint you.

Christie: What is it?
DJ: It's a comment, nothing more, but if you turn it this way and look into it, it will show you 555. But this is not a gift for an ordinary parodist who spoofs Madonna songs....

LOL, couldn't help but quote Labyrinth after your comment. Great parody, sometimes with longer songs, you just seem to come up with good ideas and keep writing. That's what happened with my take on BoRhap.
