The Lyrics

By now, most of us have heard the terrible news about the stage-collapse at the Indiana State Fair that killed 5 and injured dozens due to a freak gust of air from a storm. People had waited a long time to see the country duo Sugarland while the Fair Officials called the weather service 4 times before a freak gust of wind toppled the rigging and lighting systems that caused the grandstand floor to collapse. No one had anticipated this tragic event. My parody is not about anything funny that happened- it just asks the same question Fairgoers are asking now...
[INTRO]
Why did the stage fall apart, please tell me
The show’s through, oh-no!
Oh, Why did the stage fall apart?
The stage fall apart?

Well it's one thing to stand in line
But another to miss a show so fast
I thought that they were just beginning
And now the grandstand’s crashed!
Oh, look me in the eye
And tell me what we really went through

You know it's one thing to get good seats
But another for the rigging & lighting to come apart
And if they knew a storm would blow through
Why did they even start?
Oh, I wanna hear you tell me
Why people pushed and shoved…

[CHORUS]
Why did the stage fall apart, please tell me
The show’s over
I can't believe it’s true
Why did the stage fall apart, please tell me
Storm blew through, oh-no!

Oh, Why did the stage fall apart?
The stage fall apart?

They waited and waited forever
But the concert never had a chance
We wanted to see Sugarland together
Instead of getting a ride in an ambulance
Oh, I wanna hear you tell me
Why people pushed and shoved…

Why did the stage fall apart, please tell me
The show’s over
I can't believe it’s true
Why did the stage fall apart, please tell me
Storm blew through, oh-no!

Why did the stage fall apart, please tell me
The show’s over
I can't believe it’s true
Why did the stage fall apart, please tell me
Storm blew through, oh-no!

Oh, Why did the stage fall apart?
The stage fall apart?

(The stage fall apart)
The stage fall apart
(The stage fall apart)
The stage fall apart

Oh, look me in the eye
And tell me what we really went through

Why did the stage fall apart, please tell me
The show’s over
I can't believe it’s true
Why did the stage fall apart, please tell me
Storm blew through, oh-no!

While they are still investigating, it is known that the gust of wind that toppled everything was very localized- it didn't touch tents, trailers, even a carnival attaction nearby. Very strange weather behavior...
