Song Parodies -> "Doin' It All For the Laughter"

Original Song Title:

"Doin' It All For My Baby"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Huey Lewis & the News

Parody Song Title:

"Doin' It All For the Laughter"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

Number 700. The only way I could think to work that number into a song was to slam Pat Robertson ("The 700 Club"), and this should be an occasion to cheer up, not throw up. Those of you who want to do that tomorrow, after toasting me with multiple imbibings, feel free.
(instrumental opening)

Early in the morning
fall out of bed.
I open up
The Star-Ledger.
All the news stories
running through my head
and soon the lyrics
start to come together.

I do my best to give you songs you'll like forever.
Just get some practice, and soon you're getting better!

Doin' it all for the laughter
that's why I write each parody.
Doin' it all for the laughter
for all the laughs you've given me!

Later in the evening
it's been a rotten day.
I sit right down
in front of my computer.
Gotta get some laughing.
No Solitaire I play.
Write songs of Bush
and Arwen, who's much cuter.

I do my best to give you songs you'll like forever.
Just get some practice, and soon you're getting better!

Doin' it all for the laughter
that's why I write each parody.
Doin' it all for the laughter
for all the laughs you've given me!

(instrumental break)

Doin' it all for the laughter
that's why I write each parody.
Doin' it all for the laughter
for all the laughs you've given me!

Doin' it!
(Doin' it!)
Doin' it!
(Doin' it!)
Doin' it, doin' it, doin' it, yeah!

Doin' it!
(Doin' it!)
Doin' it!
(Doin' it!)
Doin' it, doin' it, doin' it, yeah!

(Doin' it all for the laughter!)
Doin' it all!
(Doin' it all for the laughter!)
Doin' it all!
(Doin' it all for the laughter!)
Doin' it all!
(repeat 'til fade)

#1--This is FAB...congrats on such a huge milestone...=)
#2--I LOVE Huey, along with the News...and I can't believe this hasn't gotten more votes...where the hell is everyone?
#3--When I saw the title, I was SO primed to throw down a "just admit that you're doing at least a little bit for the love your favorite elf" comment...but...

"Write songs of Bush
and Arwen, who's much cuter."

...made me grin too much to be a smartass...=) Nice Job!
