The Lyrics

Can you stand another song that kicks Red Sox fans when they're down? You will, and that's an order!
(The Number 4 train rolls past, in place of the Huey helicopters from the original version)

We met as teammates at Winter Haven.
We left as soulmates, we're Pennant cravin'.
And we were sharp, as sharp as knives.
And we were so sure it's the year of our lives.

We came in savored, like tameless hell-beasts.
We left as favored in the A.L. East.
We had Nomar, and Trot in right
though Manny's fat and Pedro's shoulder was tight.

We read the Herald, we checked the Globe dope.
We played at Fenway, and gave the fans hope.
We dug in deep and played it tight
and hit the horsehide sphere with all of our might.

We played to cameras at every landscape.
We laughed at Millar, he danced to Bruce tapes.
And we scored runs, scored runs each night night night night...
We jumped right out from the git-go
hit balls to the CITGO
and we gave the Yankees a fright!

And we would cowboy up together.
We said we'd cowboy up together.
Yes, we would cowboy up together.

Remember Detroit, remember Cleveland.
We got some gray hairs playing in Oakland.
And who was wrong, and who was right right right right...
It didn't matter in New York City's night.

We held the lead in the palm of our hands.
They tied it up and the game seemed to last
as long as six weeks in Winter Haven.
We got punished for our bad behavin'.
And they were sharp, as sharp as knives knives knives knives...
They took us each for a sucker
Boone tracked Wakefield's knuckler
and waited for it to arrive...

And we have cowboyed down together.
We said we'd cowboy up together.
But we have cowboyed down together.

(The Number 4 train rolls past)
Nine... teen... eight... teen...

This parody, true-to-life when posted, is now invalid. And the Sox don't even train in Winter Haven anymore. It's Fort Myers.
