The Lyrics

Zoos are not easy to take for the occupants, there
Teased by the children and laughed at, objects of stare,
More like a prison, with constant confinement,
Lost freedoms are ramble and play
Animal activists fight hard to keep them unstrung,
The natural habitat way..

Llamas don't let your babies grow up to be zoobies
Locked in those cages is a life that just sucks
Captivity makes the owners big bucks
Llamas don't let your babies grow up to be zoobies
They'll suffer a lot, spend much time all alone,
Please set 'em free in the wild..

Zoos are a trade off, of cities, for cool jungle mornings
Handlers and trainers, abusers, just won't treat 'em right
Peaceful and quiet is missing, there's no solitude
Only the clatter and noise.
It's all wrong and so different, with tough sacrifices
And no chance for wilderness joys

So, Llamas don't let your babies grow up to be zoobies
Behind bars in cages is livin' that sucks
Misery bound's makin' someone big bucks
Llamas don't let your babies grow up to be zoobies
They can't live a full life, cramped in such a small space
Let 'em run free in the wild

Let 'em run free in the wild

I remember several years ago driving down a rural road in eastern Kansas. Looked off to my right and saw a pasture full of llamas. Just another sign of the impending apocalypse, I suppose. Interesting topic for a song. Freedom exchanged for security. A problem we humans are continually dealing with.
