The Lyrics

Cattle are messy, and not prairie broken, at all
They'll hike their tails up, when comes that old nature call
Spread it, forget it, don't clean up, just let it
Fall..wherever they dang well please..
Drop plop on an ant hill, the side of a sand hill,
Or some shady spot 'neath the trees..

Cowboys watch where you're walkin'
When not in the saddle..
Don't need your bunkhouse, a smelly old shack
Won't like brown boots, when you've just shined 'em black
Cowboys watch where you're walkin'
While roamin' the ranges..
Don't need messy stirrups, slipp'ry spurs in the back
Oh, cowboys watch where you walk...

Old movie cowboys showed caution and great care, while strollin'
Roy and Gabby you'd never see suffer such plight
John Wayne, Tom Mix, Walter Brennan, Gene Autry, too
All strode with style and good swagger..
One star, who was unique in missing the messy
Would rightly be called, "Hopalong"

Oh, cowboys watch how you're walkin'
'round big herds of cattle
'Can't just go trampin' as free as you wish
Sorry, you'll be..if you're feelin' a squish
Cowhands, watch where you're droppin'
Those pointy toed boots down..
There's cowpies a'plenty..and they're not a good dish,
So cowboys, watch where..you..walk

Cowboys, watch where you walk..

Sir L'AIR de Farce, this is kinda like Pirates who must now avoid the gushing BP oil spill in the Gulf . . . sailing around the oil slick . . . PS: Gable was a cool Cowpoke too, in the ~ TALL MEN ~ with Jane Russell.

Thanks, TJC..good punnto...and thanks, LCC..good comparison...and yes, he was...especially in his last movie...the modern, (Sort of) western.."The Misfits"...Kind of freaky, but wasn't that the last film for three stars, Gable, Monroe, and Monty Clift, too?

Sir L'AIR you are correct ! ~MM~ was making the film 'Something's Gotta Give' with DeanMartin, but it was shelved, never completed . . . Gable was old by then, but in in the TALL MEN (blk/wht) he was quite a Cowboy Stud, at least in my book . . .

JaneRussell: " I want a tall man, might take a small man . . . as long as he is all man, that's good enough for me " !
