The Lyrics

There were reports of these kinds of shenanigans going on in New England this past Tuesday.
"Hello mister, I'm a caller,
With advice for free
I've got no crazy questions or campaign pleas
Mine is the laziest request that could ever be
Don't go out tonight, stay home and watch TV"

"No, no, don't bother to vote,
No, no, don't bother to vote,
I say,
Your candidate's fine without, you,
Your candidate's fine without, you"

"Open up a cold brew, settle in your favorite chair
Tune in sitcoms jokin', blow your dope-smoke in the air
Have another joint, keep tokin', suck all them smokey laughs in deep
Open up a cold brew, drink yourself to sleep"

"No, no, don't bother to vote,
No, no, don't bother to vote,
I say,
Your candidate's fine without, you,
Your candidate's fine without, you"

(instrumental break)

Clock radio is blastin'
My head's poundin', feelin' sore
Oh no, it's Wednesday morning,
Must've passed out on the floor!
TV's showing someone - candidate that I adore -
She lost by one vote?
I don't wanna see no more!

Someone told me not to vote
Someone told me not to vote (someone told me)
And now
My candidate lost by one, no! (oh no!)
My candidate lost by one, son!

Someone told me, Someone told me
Someone told me, Someone told me
Someone told me not to vote (Someone told me not to vote)
My candidate lost by one, son!
My candidate lost by one, son!
My candidate lost by one, son, oh, ONE!
My candidate lost by one, son! (Someone told me)

Someone told me, Someone told me
Someone told me, Someone told me
Someone told me not to vote (Someone told me not to vote)
My candidate lost by one, son!
My candidate lost by one, son!
My candidate lost by one (oh no, NO!)

Sadly, this kind of stuff has been going on for a loooooong time. According to family tradition, someone tried to get my grandpa, a mining foreman in PA, 55 or 60 years ago, to encourage his workers not to vote. In any event, I'll vote you some high marksfor this parody.

JD - I realize it's whistling in the graveyard, but it sure would be interesting to know just how much all the little games that went on at polling place, with registration cards and other shenanigans occured and how many voters were thwarted this time around. Probably not enough to change the result of this election. But we will never really know. It's sad to say, but it really is up to each person to be extra vigillant and do everything they can to make sure their vote is properly received and recorded - although in some cases even that might not be enough. I'm marking my paper ballot with three 5's here and pressing down hard on the "Submit" key.

Ended up being a two-pigdog night: Bush and Cheney.

Say, did anyone see that new South Park episode where they have to pick between a giant douche and a turd sandwich for their school mascot? And no one can understand why Stan doesn't think it's important to vote? BEST EPISODE EVER. Excellent parody, by the way.

That's how I felt when I had to vote between Bush and Kerry. So I picked the lesser of two evils and voted Libertarian.
