The Lyrics

Most people think that with the fall of Berlin and the weak Volkssturm units that Germany surrender and that was it on May 8, 1945. No, actually there were resistance groups. One was the SS-trained Werwolf bands that wreaked some havoc and tied-down Allied occupation forces until 1947. They blew-up Allied supplies, defied De-Nazification, assassinated German traitors in high places, derailed trains, planted mines, and killed scores of people. The other lesser-known group were the Anti-Nazi resistance called the Edelweiss Piraten (Mountain Pirates) who had secret bases in secure locations and unlike the Werwolves had moved caches of assault rifles and rocket weapons to wage war but on a limited scale. These were Ex-HJ, ex-soldiers, and drifters that formed bands to oppose the occupation as well but with a different agenda for a united Germany. In March 1946, however, 80 of their officers were captured with a list of 400 targets to assassinate. This destroyed their plans and cohesion. there was some fighting with Allied reprisals that were brutal but they just faded away by late 1946. US Allies called them Anzis (Anti-Nazis)...
Bloody, gotta dump that body,
bloody, Anzi guerilla killed somebody
Bloody, dispose of that body,
bloody, Anzi guerilla killed somebody
Body, Allied scout, US Army, body,
Anzi, throw it out, that body
Bloody, taking out that body, body,
Anzi, must evade the army

Over here:

The underground Edelweiss Piraten
Anti-Nazi Resistance in small bands
Officers to drifters, room to grow
Hostile territory, actions slow
Opposite of Werwolves
They are Piraten
Ex-Hitler youth officers turned mountain men
Prey, prey, prey, prey, prey

Edelweiss Piraten
Bands of Resistance mountain men
Edelweiss Piraten
Mean bunch of guerilla foes!

Edelweiss Piraten
Bands of Resistance mountain men
Edelweiss Piraten
Mean bunch of guerilla foes!

Bloody, fighting Allied armies,
Bloody, German traitors harming,
Bloody, officers are haughty,
Bloody, recruits that were shoddy,
Bloody, they can‘t beat these armies,
Bloody, the odds are alarming,
Bloody, gotta discard that body,
Bloody, must evade the army

Bunch of tough German foes, from hidden Alpine base
have STGs and rockets, behind a masked face
Target mostly Allies, barely seen
and kill traitor Germans, collaborating
Opposite of Werwolves, they are Piraten
Hitler’s not their leader, but follow Anti-Allied plans

Prey! Prey! Prey, prey, prey!

Edelweiss Piraten (Ja, Ja)
Bands of Resistance mountain men
Edelweiss Piraten
Mean bunch of guerilla foes! They fight!

Edelweiss Piraten (Ja, Ja)
Bands of Resistance mountain men
Edelweiss Piraten
Mean bunch of guerilla foes! They fight!

Bloody, bloody, bloody, Resistance is bloody
Bloody, bloody, bloody, fighting Allied armies
Bloody, bloody, bloody, Resistance is bloody
Bloody, bloody, bloody, fighting Allied armies

Kill shot, killed somebody
They fight!

The underground Edelweiss Piraten
Anti-Nazi Resistance in small bands
Officers to drifters, room to grow
Hostile territory, actions slow
Opposite of Werwolves
They are Piraten
Ex-Hitler youth officers turned mountain men
Prey, prey, prey, prey, prey

Edelweiss Piraten
Bands of Resistance mountain men
Edelweiss Piraten
Mean bunch of guerilla foes!

Edelweiss Piraten
Bands of Resistance mountain men
Edelweiss Piraten
Mean bunch of guerilla foes!

Edelweiss Piraten
Bands of Resistance mountain men
Edelweiss Piraten
Mean bunch of guerilla foes!

Edelweiss Piraten
A mean bunch of occupation foes, Edelweiss Piraten
Mean bunch of guerilla foes!

Note: Do not confuse this Edelweisss Piraten with the other youth-driven Anti-HJ group from the 1930s-1945. They are akin to the German "Swing Kids" and "White Rose" movement and NOT the armed bands led BY Ex-HJ Officers against the Allies and traitor Germans. The Wiki article is flawed by mixing elements of the two. Only the latter had assault rifles and rocket weapons and hid in the Alpine areas, being exposed and broken-up in 1946. The former lasted much longer. And lastly, ethnic Germans in the Baltic States as Forest Brothers fought into the 1950s against the Soviets!!!
