The Lyrics

This is at least the tenth time this song has been parodied. I got lost with pacing for the last couple of lines, so I just looked at Guy's parody to find my place again. Seriously, his pacing is identical to the songs that he parodies. But that's not news to anyone. Enjoy.
I now have Bilbo's ring, I think it's tainted black
And I must keep it safe or Sauron will come back
'One ring to rule them all' that's what the fire shows
I trust what Gandalf said, 'cause my ring indiglows

Merry and Pippin wanted second lunch and snacks
We all forgot our shoes so we just can't relax
Some string that my friend forgot, I tell Sam it's OK
If we need to wrap up gifts, I'm sure we'll find a way

Strider has warned us all watch out for men in black
Stay off the road in woods so ring wraiths cannot track
Arwen rode like the wind and she did not look back
Unleashed the river rage and saved me from attack

Hey listen Aragorn I'm feeling rather blue
I have no lady-friends so how come you have two?
Made it to Rivendell, I thought that we were done
Then agent Smith said that they would get overrun

I have the one ring and I said I'd take it back
The fellowship was formed for one ring tainted black
'One ring to rule them all' that's what the fire shows
I trust what Gandalf said, my ring still indiglows

I wanna thank you Peter, Peter Jack
Elijha, played my role
I wanna thank Tolkien, then I'll say good-bye
And now I know it's tainted, tainted, tainted, tainted black
Seeing as how this is just the first half of the first movie, somebody could write a sequel... But I'm getting ahead of myself.

LOL ! Great lines....among my favorites:

I trust what Gandalf said, ‘cause my ring indiglows

....and Hugo Weaving will appreciate your subtle "Matrix" reference:

Then agent Smith said that they would get overrun

555 for you, 2nz, good job.

Um... make my lunch something spicy and Pippin's something bland... :-P Nice parody!

Nice cross references.

Thanks Johnny, Meriadoc and Know 1. Meriadoc, now I just need to learn how to cook without a fire, or they'll find us. Or we can just hit up the elves for something nice.

I think it's safe to say I can appreciate a good LOTR parody...well done!

Captain's Log, Stardate, 2003.1208. The... yawn... Enterprise is traveling through a very, very dull section of space on the way to its next sequel. Picard out...cold.

Thanks Arwen, mike. "Captain's Log. A bunch of our ship fell off and...nobody likes me." Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The movie

HA. The one's guy confirms it. This one is good too. :c) Thanks one's guy.

2nz - Ah, we've finally hit the dilemna of a song that where I know the original extremely well, is superbly done pace-wise but is WAY too LOTR specific for a "non-Ringer" to appreciate a whole lot at the humor level. Normally when I see so much "Ring" reference I just pass but I had to go forth because I like your writing. So I've got to go "5-2-3 here. I wouldn't go "1" on the funny because I can SEE distinct signs of cleverness present. Now to those poor "Ring-infected" wretches (just kidding, I just liked how the phrase reads) out there this might be a total winner.

2nz - Gosh, well here is MY entry for this week's "Most Anal Remark" contest: I just re-read my last comment and spotted an annoying error I made while changing the wording slightly; "that" should have been removed from the 1st line. My penalty looks like 2 1/2 minutes in the "Twit-Control" box. I'll be back out on the "amiright" ice at about 10:58am according to my PC clock.

I thought ignorance was bliss, but here your making it kinda painful. So go ahead, be truthful and honest and all that. Seriously, you don't even wanna see the movies?
Arwen - January 27, 2004 - Report this comment
Seriously, Paul...SEE THE MOVIES! I know you love me now, but imagine how incredibily amazing I'd be if you understood the greater part of what I write! Not to mention that they are just SO good! Golden Globe Winner for Best Picture...that has to count for something!
Arwen - January 27, 2004 - Report this comment
Not to mention the TOP Oscar nominee for the year!!!

Arwen & 2nz, thanks for the invite but I really hate almost ANY movie that is done in sequel format. Don't go to the movies much anymore anyway and have aforementioned attention span for things on a screen of maybe 1 hour MAX (and that's if I KNOW it's over af that point, if it's longer than that the attention span drops proportionately). The only sequel movie thing I ever liked was "Alien(s)" and after 1 & 2 it kinda became tiresome and sh*tty to me also. If things move around too much or it's real loud I never know what's going on and that seems to be the style of most adventure/action movies today. Drives me nuts!! (short trip). Maybe if either or both of you come out here someday I could be dragged to it. Warning, if I thought it stunk I'd probably ruin it for you. "Suffer in silence" is one thing I do not do too well these days...
Arwen - January 27, 2004 - Report this comment
Um. I'm pretty sure you'd love it...because you don't seem like you're completely insane. If you thought it stunk...it would be impossible for you to ruin it for me...because I love it too much. It would be like you ruining my mother or something...it couldn't happen. And, if you started complaining, that woudl be okay...but you'd be suffering all alone, because I'd break up with you...AND make you refund my airfare. So there. The only reason it's done in sequel form is because nobody wants to see a 10 hour movie. Seriously...it's just one story...broken up into three parts. I am often leery of sequels as well...but if it's planned as a trilogy from the beginning...that is different. So...refuse if you will...but that means that 2nz is officially my one and only...take that!

Can't believe I missed this first time around: a Stones LOTR parody? Nice one, 2nz.
Paul Robinson - January 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Arwen - Me and my both mouthy fingers! They do it to me every time! Well, I suppose the only advantage for me is that they have already done all 3 parts of this trilogy (at least I guess they have, posting my further ignorance of this cultural item for all to see). So I wouldn't have to wait 5 years or whatever to see how it comes out (provided I cared after checking out the first one), 'cause that ALSO drives me nuts. Well, I will have more free time after I get back to L.A. and catch up on all the things I didn't want even think about while I was away. Once I catch up and recover from that maybe I could rent a DVD of the first (just bought and hooked up my first DVD player a couple days before I left for my trip. Only used it once so far to make sure it worked. That's how behind the times I am.) Hey, I'll probably even start looking for a job again sometime after I get back since I will be filing for Unemployment. Not too much in L.A. from what I hear except stuff I'm not real interested in doing. The fellow I car-pooled with is extremely intelligent with Physics degree, Law Degree, Programming and Management experience and he told me in 6 months of sending out well over 100 resumes he had received exactly ONE response and it a really crummy offer...OH, back to LOTR... Man, I am SO easy! You didn't even have to bat your eyes at me and I'm ready to cave in...OH (again)...2nz & Arwen - I've given some thought to my voting on those LOTR parodies and perhaps I've taken the wrong tack. I should probably just pass when they are too "Ring" specific but I know the original song rather than down-grade the "Funny/Overall" scores, but since I have recently BEEN voting on the "Ring" songs where I knew the original and knew just enough about the characters to have a clue I thought I was being consistent. I hate to just skip over them because there still is some interesting writing done. Got to think about it some more. Want to be fair, don't want to trash scores due to what I don't know. Search more middle ground on "Middle-earth-y" tales will have to continue. (See, it looks like I've absorbed a few things thru osmosis; had no idea what all the "Middle-Earth" jabber was about a few weeks ago.) But how would I have time for the obsessions I've already got if I pick up a new one?
Arwen - January 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Nobody's asking you to be obsessed...that's my job. You can be interested and completely entertained like the rest of the world...
Paul Robinson - January 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Arwen - Can I? Not so sure but might give it a shot. Please tell me it's much better than "Jurassic Park"; what a piece of crap that was!
Arwen - January 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Okay...number one, you could insert ANY movie into your plea...and I'd say that LOTR is better. I'm a bit biased that way. But it is good...whether it will be your all time favorite movie experience of all time...I cannot say. But I really think you'll like it. Have you not read my "The Longest Time" parody? I was once leery like you. I once mocked those in the theater who seemed even remotely excited at the Fellowship preview. I vocally abused them and called them geeks. I am a bad person. But then...I saw the show...(under duress)...and I loved it. I went in determined to have all my ill will justified, and walked out totally converted. Take a risk, buddy. Just do it. For me. No...do it for yourself.
