The Lyrics

Yeah, "The Flintstones"...just what IS the REAL story hidden behind all those pre-historic tract houses in Bedrock? FYI - the OS here is another fine piece off of the 'Dead's "American Beauty" album of 1970.
(Instrumental opening)
(Yab-ba-dabba, dabba-dah-doo doo-doo, doo-doo, Yab-ba-dabba, dabba-dah-doo, dah-doo, doo-doo-doo, etc. through intro}

I live down in Bedrock
that place is a rockin' town
Work down at the quarry
my job's movin' rocks around

Yeah, we're the Flintstone's
Wilma is my wife
I'm Fred, Barney Rubble
is a friend of mine
My daughter, Pebbles, she is cute and bright
I tuck her into bed each night

I hang out with Rubble
Me and Barney like to bowl
Maybe have a few beers
couple tall ones; frosty cold

With my friend, Rubble
we sure have good times
Stay out of trouble
and we love our wives
We're always home before midnight
so we get enough sleep each night

One day down at the quarry
Betty Rubble called me there
she said she wanted some cheap thrills
yeah, she wanted an Affair

My mind was boggled
but I did decline
I said "Your husband
is a friend of mine
To cheat on him is just not right
Such dumb ideas screw up folks lives"

(Brief instrumental)

Holy cow, I wonder
just what is wrong with that Bitch?
I thought that they were happy
but she needs to scratch some itch
It would be tough on Barney
if his wife Betty, I nailed
I'd carry lots of guilt with me
Their marriage; it could fail

Asked my wife, "Do you know
what's up with your friend, Betty?
Wilma, she just kind of smiled
and said, "What do you mean?"

Well, that seemed funny
Yeah, I was surprised
I said, "Barney Rubble
is a friend of mine
Things at his home must not be right
I just got hit on by his wife"

(Instrumental Break)

{Yab-bah-dab, baddaba-dah-doo, doo-doo-doo, dah, doo-doo, doo-doo}

{Betty Rubble wants to screw, doo-doo, doo-doo. doo-doo}

{Fred, he don't know what to do, doo-doo. doo-doo, doo-doo-doo}

{He needs some time to think it through, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo-doo}

{Let's see now just what they're gonna do, doo-doo, doo-doo}

Fred, there are some reasons
why I was not that surprised
Betty told me Friday she was
bored with their sex life
In bed Barney is dismal
he is sluggish as a snail
And then Betty did ask me
if she could give you some tail"

What my wife just said, man,
well, it was a shock to me
I'd never imagined
it would be OK to cheat

With Betty Rubble
I had a good time
Got home; found Barney in bed
with my wife
Was humping her with all his might
She wailed and moaned in pure delight...

Ah, the moral dilemmas of cartoon characters. Good buildup to a good twist ending.

Well, yeah, of course, JB - clearly one of the pressing concerns of our times...IS Barney banging Wilma? Thanks ~ ~ ~

555, I agree, a good build up.

I GIVE IT A 3, NOT A 1 !!!!!!!!!! My apologies for the "1" overall rating (fifth vote that came in). That was inadvertent -- how do we have an admin to change it to the intended "3"? Sorry about the rookie mistake, if someone knows the way to correction, please post it along with your comment. I haven't seen a 'what to do if you're spazzed like a Palm Beach voter looking at a Butterfly Ballot' button. I thought there were some funny spots (I especially liked the guilt-carrying marriage-failing thing..I could hear Jerry singing that couplet, lyrically like a Peggy-O or Jack-A-Roe deal) but it got a little porn-y for my taste (Dude! FOTD, dude!) and I thought there were some pacing issues -- granted, it's not the easiest of songs to work with, given the fast and slippery pacing of the original. Believe it if you need it and keep on truckin. I'll try not to be such a nitpicky deadhead next time! Less Church Lady-ish, too. (Who could Jerry's friend be....hmm...I don't know....let me see...is it SATAN?????? )

Don't worry about the vote slip-up, Stormin - not a big deal. However, I take a bit of issue with your remark about this having pacing problems...As always these days, I recorded a voice over-lay version to the Original song track, and I can tell it paces fine, perhaps not 100% exact. but within a fraction of that...certainly not enough to throw one off the story-line. But anyway, if we all saw things the same way then there wouldn't be any points in asking for feed-back, would there? I can't see why you wouldn't find this really funny, the first time I tried to record my overlay I broke up midway into total, uncontrollable laughter...but, hey...Thanks for stopping in ~ ~ ~

now THAT'S a modern stone age family...beautifully done, paul...5s plus

Thanks, alvin...glad you liked it...Yeah, "A Modern Stone-Age Family" fur shure...BTW - Stormin - I think I see what you are talking about...it IS necessary to accent or emphasize some of the words...particularly the names in a couple places, differently to make it totally work....something that I believe the group itself actually does quite often in their own original work. So I don't see this as being problematic in any way when I do it here...
