The Lyrics

Uhh...OK - Here's a soggy "breakfast saga" for you. FYI - the OS here is a great one from the 'Dead's fine "American Beauty" Album of 1970. You know, I might feel guilty about trashing such a beautiful song by a great group...if I hadn't already done so very much of that to my favorite current Artist, Tori Amos's beautiful stuff...and, anyway, one of the great things about being a parody writer is how quickly you learn to dismiss those feelings of guilt and shame. Beyond that, I generally respect the work of the Original Artists...and prefer to work with songs that I truly like over one's that are boring and/or stupid, or just plain unappealing to me(OK, so I have made...umm...'occasional' exceptions...lol).
~ ~ ~ (Instrumental Intro) ~ ~ ~
[during intro - sung lightly]
{I just woke up, I'm hungry now...what is there around here to eat? Uh...well, I'm so hungry now...I think I could eat a cow...}

Looking for sweetened cereal
in the morning
Not the evening
Not mid-day
Don't see; maybe there is none
Don't see nothing
and my stomach's growling
give a heavy sigh

No breakfast; Man, this is screwed
I crave some food
This makes me blue

There's not a thing to eat
Nothing to chew
This sure blows

Look in the Kitchen Pantry
Oh, Hey; Wait!
This is Great!
Think I see some food
Right there behind my spice rack
way in the corner
A box of something I see there

I'm so glad that there's some food
Some food back there that can be eaten
I'm pleased; My Spirits rise
That I've found something to chew

~ ~ ~ (Instrumental break) ~ ~ ~
[during instrumental break]
{I'm so hungry now - what is there to eat around here?}
{I'm so starved that I could eat....}
{A Horse's...Ahh-hah-hass}

Look in to see what type
Just some grain stuff
would not eat if I something else
Don't think I'd seen before
Did my wife buy
the other day
when at the store?

At least it's something to chew
I need some food
I'm hungry, dude
I wish I had some cream
or else some fruit
but I don't

Dig in to take a big bite
Not as bad as it seemed
though it's kinda bland
Man, I am tired; need "Mocha"
This stuff's so tasteless
I sure was hopin'
it would appeal

But it's still some something to chew
'Cause really, dude
I needed food
A box of grain
unsweetened; plain
I sure could use some fruit

Just a box of grain
Milk; needs sugar
Don't leave it; you should eat it
Come on now
just try it out

Not too bad
though, just the same
I will get some sweet rolls
on my way to work today

It was just a box of grain
Not my usual morning fare
Did eat it; I did need it
When sweetened it was fair

It was just a box of grain
which I normally can't bear
But I had nothing else to eat
'cause my cupboard was real bare
