The Lyrics

Don't get me wrong, I think eBay is a wicked cool site. The problem is that with certain items, people tend to go overboard. I mean, at the prices that some people pay, I could buy 2 or 3 of a similar product. However, I soon forget about it & try to look for another specimen of the same item. You should do the same, too. Anyways, enjoy the parody! NOTE: This is the shorter version. The longer version has some extra verses + a spoken interlude. DKTOS?
I powered up my ol’ computer system,
And I went to bid on an online auction.
I figured I could easily win some item,
I didn’t think that there’d be another person
Bidding way too much,
Way too much
For that item.

I thought I had that item by its collar,
But other folks just piled on the dollars.
For a few days, nobody took no action,
Then without a warning, some nerds swarmed to that auction,
Bidding way too much,
Way too much
For that item.

When others struck, the bid war wasn’t pretty,
And you thought I was gonna say a swear word.*
To win something, don’t go at it too early,
Or you’ll be up against someone named Shirley,
Bidding way too much,
Way too much
For that item.

You see I’m smart, but I’m also persistent,
Despite all this, I also have my limits.
Sometimes I find what seems like a good bargain,
But soon enough, some other folks will barge in,
Bidding way too much,
Way too much
For that item!!!!!!!!!

(Bidding way too much for that item!) [repeat several times, fade out]
*I couldn't think of a good rhyme with the word "city", and the only other option was to use a swear word, and I try to tone down the bad language in my parodies.

Hey...I submitted the long version here, but it's not published. Could it have been because of the spoken interlude? Anyone have any answers?

Great job. I remember the long version & the spoken interlude. It was the original LP version of the song. The FM stations use to actually play that version when it came out waaaaay back in the day...
