Parody Song Title:

"The Beatles After Lennon (25th Anniversary tribute"

Parody Written by:

Adam J Smith

The Lyrics

a tribute to Lennon and story of the Beatles after his murder
I never thought it would happen
With him and a guy called Chapman
In the Dakota building
The place that he got killed in
A loner who went loco
had followed him and Yoko
A voice asked "Mr Lennon?"
The world would change from then on

The presses sense of taste went
With thoughts of his replacement
Suggesting they could pull in
the services of Julian
but Paul chose to ignore this
And gave us the Frog Chorus
Ringo just went on drinking
And George did some quiet thinking..

George got a job with Handmade
Paul played a gig at Live Aid
Ringo did the narration
For a children's animation
Then Yoko made a call
He silence broke with Paul
She said she'd found a new tune
Which could help a reunion..

They worked through the mid 90s
the fans got all excited
Altough some were disheartened
They didn't use George Martin
And when the song was ready
They showed it on the telly
It got a mixed reaction
And charted below Jackson...

next year they tried another
a single called "Real Love" but
It too failed to achieve it
So George said they should leave it
And so they Let it be
After the third anthology
and announced it that October
the winding road was over

and now it's ten years later
their loss is even greater
George passed from this dimension
Before he got his pension
tributes poured in again
reminding us of when
the world first woke and heard that
a Beatle had been murdered

as we think back this December
it's best not to remember
the nature of his passing
or the name of his assassin
for long after the pain
their music will remain
providing hope and pleasure
to future fans unmeasured.

A very clever, but sad, parody that follows the rhyming scheme of Squeeze's original.
