Song Parodies -> "Paul McCartney"

Original Song Title:

"Silly Love Songs"

Original Performer:

Paul McCartney and Wings

Parody Song Title:

"Paul McCartney"

Parody Written by:

Tim Hall

The Lyrics

You'd think that people would have had enough of Paul McCartney
Turned on the radio I hear it isn't so
Some people can't hear enough songs from Paul McCartney
And what's wrong with that?
Maybe I am
Maybe I am
AMAZED!

I'm amazed
I'm amazed
I'm amazed
I'm amazed

Paul's music career, Beatles and solo(speaks for itself)
Uncle Albert and old Admiral Halsey (notified me)

And what's wrong with that?
Because I long
for yesterday
TODAY!

Yesterday
Yesterday
Yesterday
Yesterday

Some Wings albums are so crappy
Only one good song is the norm
All I know that when I play them
They sound so silly, they sound so silly
And it's not just the love songs

(musical break)

Paul and Linda smoked lots of marijuana
Paul and Linda smoked lots of marijuana

EBONY
IVORY
Side by side on my grand piano
(IN HARMONY)
Living together in perfect harmony
(IN HARMONY)
Paul and Linda smoked lots of marijuana
Paul and Linda smoked lots of marijuana
Paul and Linda smoked lots of marijuana
Paul and Linda smoked lots of marijuana

You'd think that people would have had enough of Paul McCartney
Turned on the radio I hear it isn't so
Some people can't hear enough songs from Paul McCartney
And what's wrong with that?

I've met a few studio musicians that have played with Paul. Strangely enough, they all came up with this title also. Someone wrote a parody of the entire Beatle/Wings story called "Paperback Writer", where Paul is listening to one of his Wings bandmates makes a crack about Paul's new song being BS. The response? "You're FIRED!!!" (also has other funny lines: Phil Spector to John Lennon "We get along because we've shared the same pain" John: "You didn't tell me you were dating Yoko!")

PM just wasn't the same after the Beatles broke up, but I loved his and Linda's stint on "The Simpsons". The only Beatle who made the best music on his own was George.

Being a Beatles/Paul McCartney fan, I didn't really care for this. But putting all that aside, it's a good parody, pacing is right on, and I guess it would be considered funny to someone who dislikes Paul and/or this song. You're not liking him is your right but personally, I love turning on the radio and hearing him on there. Comment to Rick D: That comment from Phil Spector and John Lennon....FUNNY! I never heard that one before.

Robin, I like the Beatles as much as anyone, but when it comes to Wings, that is a different story. Some of the music was very good, but some other albums were downright awful. After Wings broke up, Paul's output improved, especially Tug Of War.

I agree Tim. I never followed Wings that much to be honest with you. However, I think I'm one of the handful of people who liked this song....lol.
