The Lyrics

...what? It's the first title-sub that popped into my head, okay?
His fav'rite bands are Fallout Boy and Braid*
Though they broke up in '99
It was a shock when I first saw Billy
With half his fringe across his eye
His black T-shirt says "Life Is Colder"
Not quite the nicest thing to say
From where I stood I saw he was cryin'
He looked real sad, I had to say:

Billy, don't be an emo
Don't slit your wrists with a knife
"I am in so much pain, though"
Is it worth getting blood in your eyes?
It makes such a mess on the floor, see?
"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THOUGH!"
Billy don't be an emo
Don't bleed on me

I was scared that he'd commit suicide
I tried to make him come around
But Billy cried "Life is cruel with no point
It is all just a painful sound
I need some time alone to write some
More poetry 'bout life and death"
And Billy's hand raised and flipped the finger
I guess my tone wasn't the best

I said
Billy, don't be an emo
Don't wear makeup, you're a guy
Billy, don't be an emo
You've gone too far with this shite
"I don't care about you anymore!"
Billy, say it ain't so
Billy, don't be an emo
It's dumb, you'll see

The next day on my bed was a letter
That said how Billy ran away
The letter said "I'm sorry I'm emo
I love you, Mom, see you someday"
He was behind me, smile on his face
*Yes, that is an actual band. Well, was - they really did break up in 1999.

This was good for a laugh. I remember both OS and EMO. Nicely done.

The only emo group I like is My Chemical Romance, and you did a good job. 555

Damn emo kids.... Good parody about a very overdone topic but put to this underdone song it's pretty classy.

Don't cut yourself...

Another twist ending, neat refs here and there to bands and the emo ethos.

(Artistry) Cute. This would make a nice video.

I wish my lawn was emo so it would cut itself. Billy, on the other hand, should keep that smile because this was a great song.

(Artistry) Loved the line Medemia mentioned, this one was one of my favorites by you TCOP, which is odd because it's to a song that prior to this round I've never heard of, now all the sudden. . .I've heard it A LOT. . .great job Conq!!!

Sheesh - this one is hysterical because we all know the EMO dude or chick! LOL! I think you hit that nail on the head. (I have a few EMO friends I'll let you hit on the head, too.)

You should pitch this one to Adam and Andrew - the guys who made The Emo Song on YouTube, he-he.

Sorry COP, but I find nothing humorous about suicide even though it worked out well in the end though. It's just a personal thing with me. I'm sure the parody is worthy as some of the comments reflect. Try as I wish to, I'm hung up on the suicide thing and can't get my head wrapped around this one. It's not your fault and not about you. It's just about me. I'm not so far gone on this that I cannot recognize it being 5 material. It's just that it spiked my "EMO" meter early on in the read. Hope you can understand this.

Er, Guy...what suicide? There wasn't any suicide in this parody, not even implied. The note was about the emo kid running away, which he didn't follow up on. How did you get suicide from that?

COP

Either I'm whacked, or I missed the point or it's the language barrier but I'll site the suiide refs:
BR> Billy, don't be an emo
Don't slit your wrists with a knife
BR> Sliting ones wrists is a known method of suicide. There's more.

I was scared that he'd commit suicide
I tried to make him come around
But Billy cried "Life is cruel with no point
It is all just a painful sound
I need some time alone to write some
More poetry 'bout life and death"
And Billy's hand raised and flipped the finger
I guess my tone wasn't the best

The word suicide is writen in the first line of the 3rd verse. Am I missing something and if so I will be more than happy to apologise to you. Are we talking about the same parody? I took mine from the comp link. The URL I'm looking at is:

http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/paperlace17.shtml

If suicide was used in some obscure manner I did not pick up on it and I think even if I did I would still feel the same about it. Again, I am truely sorry.

Guy: Ah. My bad. It's weird when someone else knows my parody more than I do. Your original comment just kinda caught me off guard and I didn't think properly. Sorry 'bout that.

SOTM...I don't have respect for anyone who is sad and angst riddled for no reason other than the fact that they think it's cool to be sad and angst riddled. Which seems to be the case with many kids like Billy. Life really isn't THAT bad, guys...
Medemia - September 29, 2009 - Report this comment
I'll echo what I said above again. Multi-use parodies are fine good use of talent :)

No, Billy - be an emohawk instead: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Red_Dwarf_EmoHawk.jpg

I also didn't catch the suicide reference, but I also never had to deal with anything like that in my past so it wasn't eye catching to me. The one won the Paper Lace round for a reason, because it's a great parody.
