Neil Young's original song was about the alternatives to continuing to produce similar music ["which is what he meant by "rust"]. But since Neil was also up for taking a few hits at American society, this is probably what would have come out of him if he wrote it years later, when 1 out of every 4 Americans is overweight or obese, and fast food dominates our meal plans.
