Song Parodies -> "Pot of Gold"

Original Song Title:

"Heart of Gold"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Neil Young

Parody Song Title:

"Pot of Gold"

Parody Written by:

Royce Miller

The Lyrics

They had to pan
They worked hard, man
They were stampeders for a pot of gold
They searched for better lives to live
And they kept searching for a pot of gold
Til the veins went cold
They kept searching for a pot of gold
Til the veins went cold

They went to Dawson
The place was awesome
They crossed the Chilkoot for a pot of gold
It was a steep pass, some ran out of gas
But some kept searching for their pot of gold
Til the veins ran cold
Some kept searching for their pot of gold
So the story's told

They kept searching for a pot of gold
They kept digging for a pot of gold
Til the veins ran cold
They were miners for a pot of gold

Aaaaw! We wanted to be the first to use Dawson in a parody, but you beat us to it! Good one, Royce.

There is already a parody called "Pot O' Gold." I wrote it for St. Patty's Day last year. http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/neilyoung26.shtml

Nice little nugget of a song. Merry: Since you can't be the first to use "Dawson" in a parody, I guess you're (Don't say it, Mike!) up the creek! (He said it.) Yukon count on it.

I just realized: In "A Two and a Three Ain't Five," I wrote, "You'll never find no gold from the girl named Royce." I guess that's no longer the case!
