Song Parodies -> "Northern Man"

Original Song Title:

"Southern Man"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Neil Young

Parody Song Title:

"Northern Man"

Parody Written by:

Rik Goldsmith

The Lyrics

This one's a stereotype of the North of England - It's probably different now, though(?) (apologies to Muddle & Unknown Parodist, as I've used the same title to parody the same song - I deliberately didn't view yours before writing mine, so any similarities are accidental!)
Northern man
Ee by 'eck, by gum
Grim up north
By thunder, it's glum
Northern change
From the Watford Gap
Ferret, whippet
& flat cloth cap
Northern man

Cotton mills &
Coal mining pits
Outside toilets
For t' little shits
Northern man
I thought those
days had passed
Still left leanin'
& grammar's lackin'
How long? How long? How?

Northern man
Ee by 'eck, by gum
Grim up north
By thunder, it's glum
Northern change
From the Watford Gap
Ferret, whippet
& flat cloth cap
Northern man

Suppin' ale
from a Newcastle Brown
Even snow won't get your
Striped shirt on
Sayin' "grass"
like "gas", well
What a farce
Still left leanin'
& grammar's lackin'
How long? How long? How?

Historical note: The Northern Man of England is ancestor to the Southern Man of America -- him, and the Scotch-Irish ..... Then sprinkle in a smattering of second sons of the English aristocracy who didnt want to be the second banana to the first born son after the old man died. These are the people who set up the plantations and created the problem that we.all have to deal with to this very day

Historically, this original song was answered by Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama", so I wanted to repeat history... http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/lynyrdskynyrd98.shtml
