The Lyrics

George Harrison's first solo album, "All Things Must Pass", was essentially a double album but with a third disc of generally boring jams (albeit with an all-star line-up) entitled "Apple Jam." Many critics and fans at the time thought a triple debut album was kind of overdoing it.

Oh, Apple Jam
The set concludes
With some messed-up spam
Aim low, Apple Jam

With that wind-up
Oh, what a line up
But such a letdown
Why can't you get down

Apple Jam
You've got the weight of an album
That's breaking the rack
Your rambling tracks
Have the appeal of a hitch
In a linekeeper's shack

Oh, Apple Jam
Clapton's playing
Like he's on his ass
Lord knows what's in Apple Jam

See the old pros
Bending old notes
Hear the slow hand
Playin' like there's no band

Apple Jam
You've got the rest of the album
To take up your slack
You sadly lack
The grotty zeal of a bitch
At the heel of the pack

Oh, Apple Jam
Ringo beats you
With shaking hand
George ends it with Apple Jam

He's going solo
A double promo
First two were killer
What's with this filler?

Apple Jam
You're not a Beatle reunion
But you had some pluck
Why did you suck?

Agreed, PP. Harrison wrote/played great stuff but he conversely (IMHO) contained the ability within that group to produce the dross as well. In a way, this parody captures my rant!

I grew up in the 70s/80s so it was all Disco and Pop Megastars. I never got into the Beatles although I like many of their songs I've heard and know. Interesting comments about your topic- kinda makes me want to go out and get it just to hear how bad it is!!! 555!!!

Listen to three consecutive discs of George Harrison...or watch paint dry...hmm...hard choice.

I love George, but in small doses. My favorite songs of his are actually the early ones like "Don't Bother Me."

Agreed re the early stuff and Don't Bother Me, in particular.
