One of the first songs I remember hearing on the radio and figuring out the words as a kid, so a favorite just for that. I'm surprised it didn't have a parody here before. So, since I had a little time, I thought I'd do a song about what is the more realistic dream for all of us baseball fans.
Played for just a while,
Up so they could look at me.
I played so long at Alberquerque,
But I made The Show.
Got in a a few games
‘Cause we were losin’ anyway.
Our team was thirty out of first
But then I got to play
September games.
I played my heart out like
It was a Series game.
A superstar who was
Bound for the Hall of Fame.
September ballgames
Still can make me feel that way.
Mostly just a sub,
And though I flailed at the curves,
I still can hear the cheering,
As I got my only hit.
I knew the Hall of Fame
Just wasn’t meant for guys like me.
But who needs that, I just can’t forget
How I played in those
September games.
Oh how it felt to
Have the fans all cheering me.
Some stiff who they treated
Like baseball royalty.
September ballgames
Still can bring a smile to me.
September games.
Always immortal
In the baseball almanac.
Two bagger, as part of
A seven-run attack.
September ballgames
Still can really take me back.
September games.
I played my heart out like
It was a Series game.
A superstar who was
Bound for the Hall of Fame.
September ballgames
Still can make me feel that way.
Up so they could look at me.
I played so long at Alberquerque,
But I made The Show.
Got in a a few games
‘Cause we were losin’ anyway.

As I got my only hit.

Of course, now that this song is on their radar, I have a feeling there will be at least one more about September games that mean something :-) Thanks to all for reading my stuff, and so long for now. Feel free to make use of my partial "Mice Aroma," BTW.
