Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Wanted to repeat history as a nod to the original song being a response to Neil Young's "Southern Man" which I've previously parodied ("Northern Man"), hence referencing (myself) where the original references Mr Young! Melton Mowbray, a UK Midland town synonymous with the pork pie, as pork pie is, as a slang term for a lie - hence the not too difficult 'leap' to the subject matter being the lies peddled by a certain regime leader! (Disclaimer:- it's just a comedy name - my wife & I'd like to state, there's no offence/confusion intended...that I'm NOT one of "them"!)
(One, two, three...)
(...turn it up)

Cake hole keep on flappin'
Like a flag fla-ppin' in the wind
Sing your song about the North &...
Venture up here, see what you're missin' - won't believe what you see (yes)

Well I heard what Van wrote about us
Well I heard old man put it down
Well I hope ol' Van will remember
A "Northern Man" don't need him around anyhow

Sweet home Melton Mowbray
Where pork pies are the truth
Sweet home Melton Mowbray
Lard & jelly's in 'em, too

In Birmingham they love the Governor! (boo-boo-boo)
Now we all did what he told us to
Now Partygate really bothers me
Does your conscience bother you?
Tell the truth (Boris)

Sweet home Melton Mowbray
Where pork pies are the truth
Sweet home Melton Mowbray (oh yeah)
Lard & jelly's in 'em, too
Here I come, Melton Mowbray

(ahh, ahh, ahh, Melton Mowbray)

Your conduct shows your just contemptuous
We picked apart a porky pie, or two (super sleuths?)
Lard ass tick me off so much
Next box I cross, it may not be blue
Now how about you?

Sweet home Melton Mowbray
Where pork pies are the truth
Sweet home Melton Mowbray
Lard & jelly's in 'em, too

Sweet home Melton Mowbray (oh, sweet home)
Where pork pies are the truth
Not the Governor's truth
Sweet home Melton Mowbray (lardy)
Lard & jelly's in 'em, too (yeah, yeah)

Barnard Castle's not the answer
(11.6.22) Since 2018, the UK music buying public have made their Xmas #1 a 5th consecutive parody (now a record, surpassing the Beatles). Often, a new artist can announce their arrival with a particularly good cover, made uniquely their own. I'm no singer nor musician, so if you can perform this (or any of mine), please send me a version & lots of royalties!
