ya know a lawyer's moved to town
it won't take long, just watch and see
till the farm life wears that fella down

undismayed that the soil is rough

corn is risin' from the ground
but its hardly big and fat
it ain't the kind where people'd wanna pay
no one wants their corn like that
some say he is in a bind
cause he ain't countrified, this dude
in his way, he plays a more city-like game
when he tries to raise crops...for food

he works so hard...in the dirt and grime
toils both night and day
frustrated 'bout a thousand times
undaunted, he still tries
