The Lyrics

One of my favorite songs and one of my favorite movies (The Shining /w Jack Nicholson, Shelly Duvall and the very cool Scatman Curuthers) got tangled together in my head and this is what happened. . .
There's a Scat-man who's sure
Of what the Shining has told
And he's driving a snowcat to REDRUM.
When he gets there he knows
That the big, lodge is closed
With a key he can get through, the locked door.

Ooh, ooh, and he's driving a snowcat to REDRUM.

There's a frame on the wall
See Johnny's been here before
'cause you know sometimes films have, two meanings.
In the maze in the front
He chases the boy and he screams,
Suddenly all of his joints, are just frozen.

Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.

Feelings, the boy gets
In the middle of his chest,
The Shining says "it's time to be leaving."
In his thoughts, he has seen
The ghost, in the suite,
Heard the voices of those who aren't living.

Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

It's been whispered that soon, there will be, a Part 2
But it really just don't stand, to reason.
And the days, they went on
And some-thing went wrong
And the forests they echoed with laughter.

If a big axe comes in your bathroom, be alarmed now!
Pick up an ice pick and give-a-scream.
Yes, there is a window you can flee by
But it's a long drop
There's still time to throw the kid outside.

And it makes me wonder.

His head is humming and it won't go
In case you don't know,
Johnny's calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow,
And did you know
When you play Olive Oyl, your career may end . . .

(solo)

And there's a wine-o down the road
He don't hear the commotion in the snow.
There's The Scatman we all know
Who shines white light and drives too slow
Near the end he has to go.
Johnny hit him very hard
But he was my favorite all along.
Jack had the bat n' he was the ball.
Dropped like a rock!
into the floor.............

Now he's dri--ving
a snow cat

to Heaven.

Very good man. "wino down the road" is a great line, almost as good as "warm smell of Cletus"...almost. And bonus points for the Scatman Crothers stuff--remember Hong Kong Phooey?

Ah yes, Hong Kong Phooey, one of my favorites! I have always thought The Scatman was cool plus I am an old cartoon junkie so that makes him a double good, number one super guy! Now, do you remember him on "Chico and The Man? --Ol' JB

Didn't really watch that show. But I think he did the voice of Meadowlark on the Harlem Globetrotters cartoon.

Scary, scary movie--lousy adaptation of Stephen King, though. :) Hey, if you enjoy listening to Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of The Moon" while watching The Wizard of Oz, try listening to "Meddle" while watching Kubrick's movie (set your player on REPEAT--you will need to play it 3 times--and start the CD as soon as the credits roll)

Claude, you are right about the voice of Meadowlark on the Hanna Barbera cartoon. I kinda wished Scatman could have used the Hong Kong book of kung fu on Jack
