The Lyrics

Didn’t really plan it this way, but it looks like this is Big Seven week for me. Monday I did one that I thought was in the Big 7, but really isn’t. (Mac Park) Tuesday I did one that is in the B7. (Edmund Fitzgerald) And then I found one on my flash drive I had completely forgotten I had started. It’s a song ABOUT doing the Big 7. Like, whatever dude. ;-) Enjoy!
There’s a grade to shoot for
Not for quitters it’s told
And he’s trying to nail down Big Seven
And he bets he’ll be slowed
By that 'Big Freighter Ode' 1
All those words, can he hit what he aims for?
Oooo, oo, oo, oooo, oo, oo, oo, oo, oooo
And he’s climbing the stairway to Seven

There’s a shrine he recalls
Built for ones who endure
Fame for flow, subs, rhymes, words, pace ferocious
He’ll agree that he’s hooked
On the songs, words and things
Sometimes 'Super' can be quite atrocious 2
Ooo, it makes me wonder
Ooo, takes me under

There’s a feeling that’s best
When you spoof 'Be Our Guest' 3
When you hear it, you’re flying, believing
You have wrought mondegreens
Things were joked, you’ve received
And your choices of prose demand looking
Ooo, it makes you wonder
Ooo, really quakes your thunder

And it’s writ-ten that soon
He’ll do all seven tunes
Hope the sniper won’t leave ‘ones’ no reason
When he’s through with these songs
His hope all along
That 'Bo-hem-i-ans' will be 'Rhap-so-dic' 4
Ooh, whoa, whoa, woooe

If there’s some trouble with your word flow
Don't be alarmed now
Adjust your thinking and re-play scene
Yet there are new paths you should go try
'Pie, A-mer-i-can' 5
Take your time and change the ode you’re on
And don’t make a blunder
Ooooh, ooh, ooh

Key-board is hummin' and it won’t slow
When all the words flow
'The Very Model of a Mod-ern' 6
No longer can you hear the wind blow
‘Tween your ears, oh
'Maj-or-ly syl-la-bic Gen-er-al' 6

And as we grind on down our bones
Our fingers smaller than our toes
There walks a lady we all know
Whose lines shine light upon our souls
The song she sings will turn to gold
And if you’re 'Blinded By The Light' 7
The muse will come to you at last
When all is fun and puns enthral, yeah
To write no schlock or be too droll

And he’s climbing the stairway…to Seven

Great job on this one, Blackjack, getting references to all of the seven in this song.

Seven difficult songs to parody...seven deadly sins. A coincidence? I think not! ;D

Was sooo expecting a song about holding 14 and drawing a Seven -- or about Seven and under. (Does that pay more than 5 and under? Or do they not pay *that* anymore, either?), As per your v/c at "Tommy's Song" yesterday, I'm voting 555 for whatever Fiddlegirl's response is. :) There, it's a push now, 'k? :D

One of the above commenters will be doing one of the B7 tomorrow (Friday).

Clever and a-musing excursion into what it's often like priming our imaginations and transferring our ideas by scribbling onto a blank page. 555

"Kids, clap your hands if you believe!" (applause, applause for BJ21) As for me, I'm enjoying each and every rung of your climb!

@ TT: I *think* BJ21 was meaning that your parody was written in "my" voice... but that's just a guess.

@ OMR: ROFL! An astute observation, sir.

A♣ J♣ - Good luck on your quest for the Big 7. Wonderful internal rhyming here and a clever concept executed quite well. No, I don't think you'll have a lot of problems getting the Big 7 accomplished. This is a fun read. Big 7 minus 2 draws a 5.

alvin: Me too, thanks!

Timmy: Thanks, took the easy way out on 'Supercali' :D

OMR: Conspiracy theory, I like it! Thanks.

TT: You guessed it, no more 'Five Card Charlies' :D I'm sure Fiddlegirl's comment will be worthy of your vote. ;-)

Pluggin: Don't be shy!

meta4: My thoughts exactly, thanks for v/c.

Fiddlegirl: Thank you, thank you very much, lol. Oh, I voted 555 for your "comment ditty," it was much more entertaining. ;-) But I voted 555 for TT as well. :-D

Sec. code is SR7, cue "Twilight Zone" music.

FG: There, see? pbthhhh.

AJ21: Holy shamoly! BJ payout cut; 5/under payoff eliminated -- do they even pay you when you win anymore? ... just keeps getting worse and worse. (When did they stop paying 5/under?)

Well, in some places now when you win a hand, whoever grabs the chips first is the winner. You have to watch out for the quick dealers. It's more like slapjack than blackjack. ;-)

Thanks Guy, your math is right on the money. I have 5 down and 2 to go.
