The Lyrics

Where is the why, vacant, a chair
So many once brilliant Stars - no longer shine there
Cry for the clowns

Andy is gone, and John and John
Chris Farley, now Robin, too - list goes on and on
Cry for the clowns - we're losing the clowns

Stopping their world, closing their doors
Too late, coming the love that they wanted - it pours
Never an entrance again, on that stage to somewhere
No writers, no lines - no audience there

It's over, the farce; whose fault, unclear
Gone are the laughs and applause, left, just a tear
To cry for the clowns, let's cry for the clowns
Who's next, we fear

Humor was rich, jokes we would cheer
Leaving us right at the peak of their career
We cry for the clowns, cry for the clowns
Wish they were still here

It's almost a cliché by now, the funny man who is crying inside. What could haunt someone so deeply that he or she would end their own life? I hope I never find out.
