The Lyrics

For any IT worker that ever carried a pager... ;)
Just lost our Web site, it failed to boot right.
The CPU hung and then decided to die.
It went without warning, now it's 2 in the morning,
Smell all those RAM chips beginnin' to fry.

Wastin' away again in DeadServerVille
Searching for that strange key labeled Alt
Some people claim that there's some hardware to blame
But I know, it's management's fault.

I don't know the reason, Proxy servers keep freezin'.
And the firewalls block all e-mail except SPAM.
But nothing here's worked right, for more than a fortnight,
And now I must fix it at 2:30 AM

Wastin' away again in DeadServerVille
Searchin' for that strange key labeled Alt
Some people claim that there's some hardware to blame
But I know, it's Change Controls fault

The DBA's steamin', the web developer's screamin',
At the networking guy that just called him a hack.
It's a UNIX mind-bender, but the sys admin can mend 'er,
Or probably could if he didn't smoke crack.

Wastin' away again in DeadServerVille
Searchin' for that strange key labeled Alt
Some people claim that there's some hardware to blame
But I know, it's the directors fault

Solo:

I blew up the laptop, and the pager just won't stop.
Lost my cell phone had to cruise back to work
But the re-org is nearer, soon my job will be clearer,
Unless my new boss is still the same jerk.

Wastin' away again in DeadServerVille
Searchin' for that strange key labeled Alt
Some people claim that there's some hardware to blame
Now I know, it's Microsoft's fault.

Yes and,
Some people claim that there's some hardware to blame
But I know, it's all Bill Gate's fault.

Now I know what the "Alt" key is for - for a parody writer to rhyme with "fault." Great first parody, Jim - I hope you continue to submit.

This is a gem! And I can appreciate this, Been here, done this! Not only do you get straight 5s you get 5 ALT CTRL DELs! (That's like wild man giving you 5 chalupas.) Keep the IT parodies hummin'. This thing should have way more than just 10 votes. C'mon folks, give up a few more votes for this guy, he's good and we want him to write more parody out here.

Jim - Your lyrics suggest that you may work for a major government. Not sure who else uses the term re-org as it applies to ones job and 'director' suggests that it is a gov or mil type agency. Anyway your parody really hit home with me and once again it was very finely written. I see you still only have one parody out here. You going to bless us with more?
