Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

On this Memorial Day weekend, please enjoy yourselves, but drink responsibly -- as those who fought and died for freedom would want you to do. (Dee Range sort of did this before, as "I'm Prone To Sin, Drunkenly.")
(instrumental opening)

In a little while from now
after I'm a little less soused
I promised myself to treat myself
to visit a rehab house.
And I'll tell Dr. Drew
it, once again, I blew
in an effort to make it clear, it's true
I'm a raging alcoholic.
I trudge, stumble and lurch
off a perch with people saying,
"My God, that drunk, how low he's sunk.
He'll sober up, we're praying."
Call a cab to take me home
where I'll drink all alone.
I'm drunk again
naturally.

To think that only yesterday
I was in condition to play.
Looking forward to
maybe just one brew
but I slugged about twelve away.
'Twas enough to knock me down
as the room's spinning around
and without so much as a mere touch
I was falling off my barstool
leaving you to doubt
talk about this plastered damn fool
for if, on booze, you do subsist
then that is really uncool.
And in my hour of need
your advice I won't heed.
I'm drunk again
naturally.

It seems to me that there are livers
broken in the world
from all this boozing.
There's lives they're losing.
What do we do?
What do we do?

(instrumental break)

I'm drunk again
naturally.

And looking back over the years
eight on this Scotch, it appears
I remember how I cried when Dean Martin died.
That night, I drank wine, not beers.
And at 41 years old
I'm still drunk enough to scold.
You can't understand why this silly man
is not stirred, he's really shakin'.
Leaving me to start
with a quart of rotgut whiskey.
Despite intervention from you
I'm still feeling quite frisky.
But when I passed right out
you knew I was a lout.
I'm drunk again
naturally.

I'm drunk again
naturally.

...as one who recently did a take on this song as well, I'd say this was a 'sobering' take on O'Sullivan's classic.

Not too drunk to write an outstanding parody. A staggering achievement. One of the best songs of the day. If you like nautical disasters, check out "Vacation Awry" Part One.
