( --- instrumental intro --- )
Oh, what a night!
Ninth November back in Eighty-Nine
Eastern Germany was feeling fine
The Cold War ending, what a night!
Oh, what a night!
Ecstatic joy that took away the breath
Of Germans dancing on the wall of death
What a party, what a night!
My eyes ---
--- they got a funny feelin' as I watched, Berlin bloom
And I ---
--- felt high as I saw that wall meet its doom!
Oh, what a night!
Wall-partition demolition-spree!
Sledge hammer and chisel dance party!
Free forever! What a night!
( --- instrumental riff --- )
They felt a rush as they tore that wall asunder!
Grinnin', they treaded on a gray granite commie blunder!
Oh, what a night!
( --- instrumental riff --- )
They pried ---
--- the concrete they were stealin' from that wall, it was hewn!
They cried ---
--- for joy as wall-shards were trampled and strewn!
Oh, what a night!
Tyrant state falls under freedom's tide!
Streaming throngs rush from the Eastern side!
Liberation! What a night!
( --- instrumental riff --- )
Ohhhh --
I felt a rush as that Berlin Wall went under!
Free Germans treaded on that gray granite commie blunder!
Oh, what a night!
(freedom, yeah, freedom!)
(freedom, yeah, freedom!)
Oh, what a night!
(freiheit, ja, freiheit!)
(freiheit, ja, freiheit!)
Oh, what a night!
(freedom, yeah, freedom!)
(freedom, yeah, freedom!)
Oh, what a night!
(freiheit, ja, freiheit!)
(freiheit, ja, freiheit!)
Oh, what a night!

Great idea, and follow up...dramatic descriptions
"gray granite Commie blunder" among the many fine fives-worthy lines.
I liked the line "gray granite Commie blunder" too. Good bit of history. 5's
joyous !
No surprises here, solid and brilliant. 555
wonderful work and subbing, JD - I once lost a passage ticket going from one door to another inside Checkpoint Charlie, and was instantly suspected an international espionage agent - I pretty well spent half a night there, before they decided to let me continue on back to West Berlin - sounds ridiculous, but it was scary - and I also have some fragments of the wall in a little box (but, I guess, with 10 million others) - 555
Got to agree with Stu, JD...your subs were brilliant. Loved this alot. 555
A well chiseled parody. Excellent work.
Das ist sehr gut - 555.

(SOTM) Very nice memory of a momentuous time.
(SOTM) Those were the days... I have a time machine, I was there, you have no proof I wasn't INSERT EVIL LAUGH HERE! 5-5-5
(SOTM) THis was great! 555!
(SOTM) Sorry, Johnny, it just wasn't sick enough. Where are the guts? Where's the human brains being eaten by flesh-eating zombies? .... (everybody stares at me) ... Psyche! This was an awesome parody and I loved the lines about the Commies and the Tyrants. You forgot to mention David Hasselhoff (Didn't you see that part on I Love the 80s?) But anyway, all in all, this belongs in my top ten. I'm hoping it makes my top five. 555
SOTM - Hey! Don't mention the war! :-)
HEIL JOHNNY!!!!! 5's
(SOTM) Hmmm...a little more serious than most of your work, JD, but still a good job!
(SOTM) "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! But leave the parody, that part's good." - Ronald Reagan's famous, often misquoted statement
I'm old enough to remember when Mr. Gorbachev tore down that wall. Good memorial. --MM
(SOTM) THat was great! 555!
(SOTM) Excellent work! good luck to you in the SOTM contest
(SOTM) - Great tribute.
(SOTM) See above.
(SOTM) I guess all I can say is: Thank you for taking the effort for writing a parody that someone other than me can understand. The midi I had wasn't useful (like midis are anyway). Sorry.
(SOTM) see above - perfect pacing too
(SOTM) I remember this well. Brilliant, ja?
Excellent job, nice history lesson to verse!
