Song Parodies -> "Free Forever! What A Night!"

Original Song Title:

"December 1963 (Oh, What A Night)"

Parody Song Title:

"Free Forever! What A Night!"

Parody Written by:

The Comedian

The Lyrics

( --- instrumental intro --- )

Oh, what a night!

Ninth November back in Eighty-Nine
Eastern Germany was feeling fine
The Cold War ending, what a night!

Oh, what a night!

Ecstatic joy that took away the breath
Of Germans dancing on the wall of death
What a party, what a night!

My eyes ---
--- they got a funny feelin' as I watched, Berlin bloom

And I ---
--- felt high as I saw that wall meet its doom!

Oh, what a night!

Wall-partition demolition-spree!
Sledge hammer and chisel dance party!
Free forever! What a night!

( --- instrumental riff --- )

They felt a rush as they tore that wall asunder!

Grinnin', they treaded on a gray granite commie blunder!

Oh, what a night!

( --- instrumental riff --- )

They pried ---
--- the concrete they were stealin' from that wall, it was hewn!

They cried ---
--- for joy as wall-shards were trampled and strewn!

Oh, what a night!

Tyrant state falls under freedom's tide!
Streaming throngs rush from the Eastern side!
Liberation! What a night!

( --- instrumental riff --- )

Ohhhh --

I felt a rush as that Berlin Wall went under!

Free Germans treaded on that gray granite commie blunder!

Oh, what a night!
(freedom, yeah, freedom!)
(freedom, yeah, freedom!)

Oh, what a night!
(freiheit, ja, freiheit!)
(freiheit, ja, freiheit!)

Oh, what a night!
(freedom, yeah, freedom!)
(freedom, yeah, freedom!)

Oh, what a night!
(freiheit, ja, freiheit!)
(freiheit, ja, freiheit!)

Oh, what a night!
(freedom, yeah, freedom!)
(freedom, yeah, freedom!)

"gray granite Commie blunder" among the many fine fives-worthy lines.

wonderful work and subbing, JD - I once lost a passage ticket going from one door to another inside Checkpoint Charlie, and was instantly suspected an international espionage agent - I pretty well spent half a night there, before they decided to let me continue on back to West Berlin - sounds ridiculous, but it was scary - and I also have some fragments of the wall in a little box (but, I guess, with 10 million others) - 555

(SOTM) Sorry, Johnny, it just wasn't sick enough. Where are the guts? Where's the human brains being eaten by flesh-eating zombies? .... (everybody stares at me) ... Psyche! This was an awesome parody and I loved the lines about the Commies and the Tyrants. You forgot to mention David Hasselhoff (Didn't you see that part on I Love the 80s?) But anyway, all in all, this belongs in my top ten. I'm hoping it makes my top five. 555

(SOTM) "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! But leave the parody, that part's good." - Ronald Reagan's famous, often misquoted statement

(SOTM) I guess all I can say is: Thank you for taking the effort for writing a parody that someone other than me can understand. The midi I had wasn't useful (like midis are anyway). Sorry.
