Once Germany lost WW2, the victorious Allies on both sides took more than just the spoils laying around- they systematically took everything Germany had invented or improved upon both military and civilian as well as every scientist, engineer, and specialist they could grab. In the US the rocket scientists helped to develop interceptor missiles, ICBMs, and space rockets as well as space medicine via the Dachau doctors! The USSR dismantled entire German installations and moved them back East along with all scientists and their families. All German secret weapons built or conceived were stolen along with all patents- unprecedented in history, Germany was raped of millions of documents that took 11 years to evaluate and redistribute for aerospace gain and spin-off tech that was sold around the world. Germany owes the West NOTHING for the Marshall Plan- they paid for it with everything they had. Many of these technologies are STILL highly classified b/c it took decades to replicate advanced propulsion systems while other technolgies needed to wait decades to become applicable in warfare. Although the atom bomb was the most advanced weapon in WW2, it was NOT the most advanced technology.
