The Lyrics
After poisoning Hinkley, CA, water with hexavalent chromium, incompetent and criminally negligent utility monopoly Pacific Gas and Electric is now trying to weasel out of a restitution agreement with the town of San Bruno, CA. Improperly welded gas transmission lines were responsible for an explosion and fire that destroyed nearly 40 homes and killed 8 people in San Bruno, in part because it took PG&E more than an hour to shut the gas off. Having seriously stinted on maintenance and equipment upgrades over decades, PG&E had failed to install automatic shutoff valves. This continuous corporate malfeasance was abetted by PG&E’s pals at the toothless, useless Public Utilities Commission.
