The Lyrics

It's been a long day at work, I'm starting to hear colours, where the hell is the next shift?!
Please relieve me now, I was supposed to clock out at half-three
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, no, buddy, let me go
Said please relieve me now, I shouldn't spend this long upon my feet
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, no, buddy, let me go
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, jerk, why are you so damn late?

This job of ours is such an awful grind
But for now, it's the only way
To make the cash we need to live our lives
Until we find a better place
So I need a bud to come here and switch before it melts my brain

This job of ours needs gaps, breaks to unwind
It's just like ev'ry damn workplace
Except the boss won't pay us overtime
So I have no reason to stay
Does the traffic suck? Was your alarm missed? Tell me you're on your way

Please relieve me now, I don't care if you get a fine for speed
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, no, buddy, let me go

Ooh-ooh-ooh, jerk, how dare you leave me high and dry
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, no, buddy, let me go
Ooh-ooh, brother, once you're here, you'll get a punchin', oh-oh-oh

Maybe it's just me, but if your breakup song is in a major key, it should be a "so long, asshole, miss you never" kiss-off kinda song. This kinda plaintive plea to not leave does not work, IMO, that shit needs to be in a minor key to feel the sadness.
