The Lyrics

Sort of a requiem for Tom Ridge (Bernie Kerik, we hardly knew ye). I've been working on this since Ridge quit. Who knew that the Boss was so hard to pace?? Also, the narrator changes from the people to the government after the Cheney line or so. Just thought you'd like to know.
Approval's down; the terror threat's raised
Like a fire the threats dance throughout the news as the radio plays
George Dubya preaching for the frightened
Hey that's me and my fear's been heightened
Play on on my fears again, I'll vote you in for 4 more years again
We read Michael Moore, Tom Ridge; we know just what you're here for.
So you're scared, and you're thinking that maybe we ain't that dumb anymore
Show a little faith, it's all run by the right
You ain't gestapo, but hey, you're alright
Oh, and that's alright with me

You can counsel with Karl Rove and study the polls
You can name different colors to achieve your shady goals
Hide Dick Cheney down in a hole to remind us nobody is safe
There's not much danger, that's understood
All the protection we can offer--we'd make it real if we could
There's a chance you'll be killed somehow
Hey, what else can we do now?
Except raise it to orange and seal the door hinge with duct tape!
Well we live in a new world, were stuck here forever, no escape
Because you're mind is what makes it real
This threatened feeling you feel
Trust in me-I'll give you false security

Oh, oh, ignore the debt
We're on TV tonight to raise the terror threat
Oh oh oh oh color code
Oh color code
Oh color code
Civil Rights gone, they're just getting in the way
Hey, you know its wrong, but you trust us anyway
Oh oh oh oh color code
Let fright
Take hold
Color Code!!

Well I've got shades of red and I learned how to make 'em talk
They say "be afraid," and you're ready to take that long walk
To Home Depot or GNC
To buy duct tape and some plastic sheets
I know you're frightened of orange, red and yellow
There's no time to be calm, to be reasonable or mellow!
There was hate in the hearts of all the folks we blew away
Are we making it safe, or just sowing the seeds of our own doom one day?
They scream their hate for us on the streets
But colors will protect you, save your life, ain't it neat?
What right have you to say we're wrong
There is a war that's going on
And you can't say its just going on up in your mind
Ain't life so unkind?
But Ridge had to retire--turns out he was colorblind!

Brilliantly written with a comical finish. I marked you down heaps for your appalling spelling of 'colour'... and 'ourange'. ;)
